Kerry's 15-second gaffe is distracting voters from the real news about the Iraq war

Republicans had a good time with John Kerry's botched joke on military service and the Iraq war, and they'll try to keep this blip of a story alive through Tuesday's election, even though the stack of Iraq stories before and after Kerry's gaffe should be of far greater concern to those of us who still think -- and those of us who still believe our votes make a difference. Kerry, a decorated Vietnam veteran, blew a zinger aimed at President Bush, and his "joke" ended up sounding like a sneer at the men and women in our all-volunteer military. But the degree to which Kerry's klutzy 15 seconds received attention says more about the electronic media's news judgment, the GOP's desperation and its influence on talking-head radio and television than anything else. Bush and the White House needed to make a mountain out of a molehill -- and to muster the Swift Boat Kerry bashers -- because they have been swamped by bad news and reports of incompetence related to Iraq.

And what I think is that Senator Kerry's "gaffe", as you put it, is far more revealing about what would happen in Iraq if we put Democrats in charge than any of the "stack of stories" the MSM has produced on the subject.

Kerry's "gaffe", Freudian or no, afforded us all a peek into the soul of the American left. And, guess what, there is no there there.

This guys making the best case possible for Jon Carry. Too bad for Jon Carry and the Dem's it doesn't fly. Jon Carry is a decorated Vietnam Veteran. The Swift Boat vets put into question every one of those decorations. Jon Carry was for the decorations before he was against them and threw them over the fence. Now he's for them again. If you use your decorations as a support for why someone should listen to your views on military issues, you bring those decorations into a legitimate issue.

So, Jon Carry, the moron Dubya has released all of his military records, you've promised to release yours, but you haven't. Why'd you get an honorable discharge in '78, years after you left the service? Why did you lie about and trash your Vietnam Vet comrades in Senate Testimony?

The attitude of the Democratic Party towards our military, towards National Security and even if the Democrat Party desires victory in Iraq are all legitimate questions. And for anyone to the right of the moonbats, the Dems aren't flying.

That is NOT what happened. And it was not a Freudian slip. Kerry spoke his mind. The problem is that Kerry's mind filters outgoing data through his misfiring synapses, which are clogged with hatred and jealousy for the American military.

The Democrats can disdain the military, but they forget that these military members have parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who support them and their mission. Democrats need to do the math before they insult the American military.
