Republicans Should Stay Optimistic and On Offense
RCP ^ | November 05, 2006 | Rudy Giuliani

Posted on 11/05/2006 6:11:38 AM PST by paudio

For the past six months, I've been traveling across the country campaigning for Republican candidates. Conventional wisdom from Washington predicts a tough year for the party. By playing offense, solidifying our ranks and reaching out to Reagan Democrats and Independents, I believe that Republicans have reason to be optimistic. Because on the big issues Americans care about - from national security to the economy to the Supreme Court - Republican leadership has delivered time and again on its promises.

Republicans are united by our belief in going on offense to win the war on terror. Five years ago, our nation learned a painful lesson about the dangers of an inconsistent approach to dealing with the evil of terrorism. In his speech to Congress on September 20th, 2001, President Bush declared that we would go on offense against terrorists, and he has made good on that promise. Terrorists have been destabilized and put on defense around the world - including Afghanistan and Iraq.

I'm aware about some Freepers' opinion about Rudy. Yet, I hope Republicans (and 'conservatives') listen to him about this. Stay positive!

I like Rudy and I think he is a great asset. I just not sure I'd want him running for President. He and McCain are both good at making the case for Republicans. McCain however just can't help himself when he let's his ego in and ruins the fun by rehabilitating otherwise dead liberals by lending credence to their bad ideas. If he could get over his sadomasochist need to stab his own party and be loved by the left I'd have no problem voting for the guy. As for Rudy he just needs to statisfy a couple things, he has to step back from the assertion that he is pro-choice and he needs to support the marriage amendment. Two small things and he could win by a landslide. If it came down to either McCain or Rudy verses a Hillary, I'd vote for them in a heartbeat.

One plus from this election. Once the GOP retains the house and senate, we'll never have to deal with john kerry again.

You saw it here first. Platform of guillani for president.

The people I've been talking with on the campaign trail want to see government get serious about fiscal discipline by cutting wasteful spending. American families want to see a revitalized education system with accountability, putting the focus on the students, increased school choice and higher standards, so that the United States can continue to be economically competitive throughout the 21st Century. They want us to do more to secure our borders while working to ensure that the virtues of legal immigration and assimilation are respected. They want us to move more aggressively toward greater energy independence.

One little, two little, three little reporters,
four little, five litle, six little reporters,
seven little, eight little, nine little reporters
crying over election day...

(or so I hope! Only getting the vote out can make that happen!)

According to the polls, Gore won, and then Kerry won.

"That's why we can't turn back. That is why Republicans need to solidify our ranks while reaching out with confidence. Because the issues that unite us as Republicans are the same issues that unite the vast majority of Americans: a commitment to winning the war on terror; a core belief in fiscal conservatism; and a FAITH IN INDIVIDUAL FREEDOM. Advancing these principles, while staying on offense, can help keep the GOP a strong majority party in the United States."....

GO REPUBS AND GO RUDY!!!

I just not sure I'd want him running for President.

Don't make up your mind until you hear him speak in person.

Been attending events in NH this past month.
Went to two Rudy appearances.
He has rock star status. Even from very Conservative elected officials.
He talks tougher about the WOT, crime, public Schools, and Dems then GWB does.
Both were casual affairs.
The standing ovations lasted a very long time.
I saw State Legislators to the right of Reagan that stood, applauded and cheered.

I strongly urge people to read his book, "Leadership." While it has a lot on 9/11, it's mostly about how he got control of the Beast that is the NYC bureaucracy. I really think conservatives would be interested to read about his assault on the "we've always done it this way" mentality. This would be quite welcome in DC...

Correct everyone should read it.

Got it autographed by him last month when he came to campaign for our Congresscritters.
My wife and I both read it.

Not sure his position is the same.
Think it may be the only position if you want to be elected Mayor of NYC.
Not a good choice if you want to be POTUS.
He may get over it quickly.

Once the GOP retains the house and senate, we'll never have to deal with John Kerry again.

If you mean not having to deal with him as a presidential candidate, you might be correct.

But don't think he won't be reelected to the Senate from Massachusetts as long as he wants the job (just like his comrade Teddy), and he is still not all that old. He's not even running this year. So he will have a platform from which to spout his nonsense, and the MSM will remain more than willing to accommodate him.
