Democrats playing catch-up to Republicans in courting religious voters have found a secret weapon: nuns.
In Ohio and Michigan, Democrats have recruited nearly two dozen nuns in each state to work phone banks. In Ohio, the nuns have made calls for the campaign for governor of Representative Ted Strickland and the Senate campaign of Representative Sherrod Brown.

Watch out for flying nuns.
some ladies forgot to return their halloween costumes...
I've got no reposte. All I can do is shake my head.
BTW, I mentioned that family name at the Woodside get-together. No luck, although almost everyone said that it sounded "familiar." LOL
This group was all from the JH-Elm end of Woodside.
Must be the Maryknolls. I knew many Maryknoll nuns in the 70s and they were all advocates of liberation theology.
Not being Catholic, I don't know why you equate my post and So.Calif. After reading the thread, it seems there are radical nuns throughout the USA.
When you combine that with the HIGHER GOP off-year percentage, say 2-3%, you're looking at some stunning election night results.
Boyoboy...I hope you're right.

People should certainly take the time to write to their bishops and complain about these activities. Bishops don't necessarily have the power to tell religious orders what they can do; but they can condemn activities like this, and they can request the orders to leave their dioceses. It's doubtful that these nuns are doing anything helpful for the Church. More likely, they are doing their very best to undermine it and spread dissent.
Also, frankly, someone should report this to the IRS. They are clearly violating their limits as a tax-free organization by doing this. If conservative priests or nuns did this, they would lose their tax free status faster than you can say "jack robinson."
Time to hold both sides equally accountable.
Yes, I think there are radical nuns throughout the USA.
I thought nuns were priests who couldn't pass the physical.

American Nuns Group Voters Guide Favours Abortion, Homosexuality
Are these the "Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence"?
In the latter days, the devil will deceive many, even "the elect." Through 'peace' he shall deceive many. This "nun" has been deceived. Do her superiors know about this?
Here in DE a teacher at Ursuline Academy came out and publicly supported Planned Parenthood and then tried to sue Ursuline after they saw her name on a petition in the News Journal and promptly fired her. (She lost her case.) She wasn't even a nun.
Don't forget Steubenville! Home of the very Catholic Familyland!
It is always amazing to me that a miniscule group like this can get such wildly disaproportionate publicity. Of course, maybe 2 or 3 of us should get together and start "Unitarians for Traditional Values" and blizzard the country with press releases demanding the abolition of abortion, anal sodomy and internet porn.
Just to bring a ray of sunshine into your day...
And, for the record: the Catholic Church has had Judases, yes, ever since Judas (so the ratio in the original group of apostles was 1:12.) It is unjust to fail to distinguish between the bad and the good. So Mene, kindly cease your cheap generalizations about the whole Church being corrupt.
I don't know if her superiors know. I don't know who her superiors are. I'm protestant and do not know the catholic system.
She's extremely well-known in town, tho, and it seems she did nothing to hide her views.
