I don't know about political leanings, but I find Mad TV to be teh funnay. Equal opportunity offenders and all that. And hey; we can laugh at ourselves, libs can't.

I recall a couple weeks ago they did a video-skit as the Dixie Chicks, singing "We can't help it if the little one has a big mouth." I think they even burquas on at one point in the faux-video.

Trey Stone once opined that Michael Moore will NEVER be able to tell a funny joke about George W. Bush, because it's too obvious. His theory is, go for the joke that's funny, and leave the audience wondering which ones reflect your personal political views.

We need to get these skits on YouTube, as counters to all the Daily Show tripe.

MadTV is 100x better than SNL, which I watched for the first time last week only because the wonderful Hugh Laurie was on. Every sketch without him was atrocious. SNL is bereft of humor these days. MadTV takes far more risks and usually it pays off.

Haven't watched it in a long time, but it used to be hysterical during the run up to the 2004 election! As far as I can recall they made fun of Bush and Lurch and it was really funny!

My wife had mad tv on tonite...the opening number was a musical gag that was too much for me to stomach. Luckily, the wife fell asleep almost immediately and I switched over the Journal Editorial Report.

Mad TV's even handed, like SNL in the days of Norm McDonald, before he was fired for not being a "team player".

"Stewart" is definitely a conservative; or, well, his Mom is.

Stewart's Mom: "Stewart, what did I tell you happens to whiners?"

Stewart: "They grow up to be DEMOCRATS!!!"

Oh I'm sorry I missed that! Of course the only reason I'm still awake is because I was at a wedding, so I would have missed it sleeping if I'd been home.

I always thought Mad TV was rather right-wing. I even thought that about "In Living Color". Like South Park, etc. they know who the true "establishment" is.
