Iraq urges calm ahead of Saddam verdict
By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN, Associated Press Writer 38 minutes ago
SNIP
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's prime minister on Saturday urged his countrymen to accept the impending verdict against Saddam Hussein without violence, then in the next breath declared the former dictator must get "what he deserves" with the decision that could send him to the gallows.

3 defendants lawyers leaving courtroom. Ramsey Clarke booted?
To: AVNevis
Not necessarily. They may be letting him go to prove that they are not an American puppet court. That would allow them to then sentence Saddam to death and have the verdict have more credibility with Iraqis.

"Exact time" and "Iraq" don't blend. There's probably not even an Arabic phrase for "exact time." LOL Try explaining that to Nancy Pelosi ;(

LOL -- I missed that! Thanks for telling me. I'll wager the democrats are worried about the timing, but Karl Rove isn't. :)

does anyone else find it odd that there are recipes being swapped on a Saddam Hussein verdict thread? Nope, it's actually almost a tradition on live threads. Need something to do while waiting so might as well talk about food until stuff starts to happen.

Hopefully that was kicked right out the front door onto the street.
Didn't someone say anyone found on the street would be shot?

Huh .. I didn't know. He was hysterical during the start of the war, when we were glued to the tube and the computer. That war changed the way I sleep ... I started sleeping on the sofa with FNC on ..haven't slept in a bed since, except for trips.

does anyone else find it odd that there are recipes being swapped on a Saddam Hussein verdict thread? I find it cruel in that it is making me hungry at 3:30am, other than that... just passing time waiting for something to happen.

LOL! The Fox bimbo just asked if the timing was because of the US elections?... Yeah. Karl Rove engineered the whole trial and put in all of the appropriate delays so that it would time out just like this.
Geeeeez.....

next verdicts coming down ... cnn guy going to find out.
To: REDWOOD99; Sally'sConcerns
I don't think the lawyers were able to speak before verdict and sentencing - just the accused. Fox News earlier said the speeches aren't supposed to be persuasive to the judges - just last words before the verdict. But it's not clear even Fox knows how things are supposed to go down procedurally.
