Iraq urges calm ahead of Saddam verdict
By CHRISTOPHER BODEEN, Associated Press Writer 38 minutes ago
SNIP
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq's prime minister on Saturday urged his countrymen to accept the impending verdict against Saddam Hussein without violence, then in the next breath declared the former dictator must get "what he deserves" with the decision that could send him to the gallows.
I will likely stay right here for the next hour or so --- I will otherwise go upstairs and wonder what's going on. :)
I'll have to pretend (again) to be energetic tomorrow. UGH
Is there any chance of it being carried on live tv?...in the USA?
Me too --- I have had to tune out the beltway press and their democrat weighted polls. POLLS DON'T VOTE.
Yes, Fox News Channel is going LIVE at the top of the hour.
As in 40 mins from now?
That's what I had a case of them for - yardwork, which apparently ruined my breathing apparati, anyway.
Unfortunately, mine are in a storage unit where I can't get to them, so I've put off buying any more of them.
Ah, yes, I remember doing that when I was glued to the war on TV in 2003. I was so innocent then...never knowing...
If someone had told me then that I'd be near the place where that Saddam statue come down as I watched it live in the wee hours Houston time - in less than a year, I'd have asked them how much crack they had smoked. LOL
According to what I have heard reported, yes, in 40 minutes from now.
Just as everyone is yearning for sleep and desiring for the end of this crazy election, I switched over to Mark Roberts Daily Psalm and read this for tomorrow, based on Psalm 126:4
"You are the One, Lord, who restores us. When we are depleted, You give us strength. When we are discouraged, You lift our spirits. When we are spent, You give us rest. When we are hopeless, You give us vision.
When our souls are parched because we've wandered far from You, You seek us out and give us Your living water. You satisfy us like nothing else in this world. You fill our hearts with Your goodness, our lives with Your blessings.
Thank You, gracious God, for your healing, restoring, renewing power. How good you are to us!"
Well CNN stick too is regular schedule but Fox news going LIVE at 2am est or 11pm pst for West coaster freepers
Niiiice. I already watched Ovsession and it's too late to listen to screaming jihad arab kids right now.
I dared to turn on CNN but there was a poll about Bush, so off it went.
This silence in my house is strange.
So, where were you when the Shamrock came down? LOL 'Bout all I can relate to. (And I was in Oklahoma.)
And we're not nervous at all. The Iraqis here are cracking jokes.
Funny how that works. I think we worry more about people back home worrying about us than people back home actually worry about us. LOL
Less than an hour now. Freedom Radio Iraq (Armed Forces station) still just playing music and mentioning the verdict occasionally.
I already watched Obsession too, so I am watching a replay of Texas Hold Em tournament --- I can't stand total silence. :)
I may need a full report - no cable for me. I've got CSI Weekends, tho - almost done with double-header and then DaVinci's Inquest.
Oh good.......some "watchers" still awake!
Good---Live thread here, and live TV.
Someone I know was in the Marines, right as they entered Baghdad. A good friend of mine knew him well, and based on the stories he told I can't imagine myself in that situation.
I am very thankful they are there for us, and I keep them in my prayers.
