And Jesus, in a discussion like this you're going to quible that they said there's only 25,000,000 terroristis instead of 1,000,000,000. Oh ok, I guess there's no threat.
Quibble indeed! When a people have pronounced themselves an enemy of our nation along with all throughout the world that are not of their ilk, it needs to be stated. When a people have shown themselves to be incapable of respecting the most basic of rights of people not of their kind, and indeed hell bent on destroying such rights, it must be stated.
We are most challenged because the enemy is cloaked within the guise of an institution we revere and grant great latitude, religion. Religion is granted a wide berth historically, but never have we known a religion that seeks to destroy all we have inherited, known, loved and embraced. Never have we had a religion in our midst so intolerable of other religions, and those of no religion, that the outsiders are considered due nothing more than death.
When that religion has scripture that unquestionably dictates the murder and submission of all non-believers, it seeks to deny the one thing that liberty and the pursuit of happiness are predicated upon, life itself. It is not that the religion has been hijacked by extremists, but that the religion itself is extreme and is a perversion to of religion itself.
Extremism has never been successfully addressed by any means other than meeting it on the same terms it practices, and that requires an extreme repudiation. Extremism has never been slowed by capitulation and compromise. It can only be quelled by that which it practices. This it understands because this is what it practices.
If my views are seen as extremist, it is not that I am such by nature, nor a practitioner of such in my life. It is that I abhor those that both practice and preach it, and I am willing to meet it head-on under the terms it dictates so it may see a reflection of itself. It matters not if the group bringing extremism numbers but a handful or over a billion. Extremism is threatening whatever their number. Once the threat is addressed and removed we can all get back to living peacefully.
And lastly, I am not Jesus!
