Globe Columnist Admits Dem Majority Could Bring 'Roaring' Redistribution of Wealth
Boston Globe- Robert Kuttner/NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 11/04/2006 12:37:35 PM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Thanks, Bob Kuttner. You might doubt my sincerity. But really, I mean it. With Nancy AWOL, and Charley Rangel endlessly recycling his line about not buying green bananas at his age let alone speculating about what he would do as Way & Means Chairman, perhaps Americans have lost sight of what the Dems have up their sleeve if they get back the majority. So in all sincerity, thanks for telling it like it is.

In Nervous excitement builds for Democrats, Kuttner lets the Dem cat out of the bag:

"We are about to get something all too rare in Democratic politics lately -- some progressive leadership . . . With a little gumption on the Democratic side, the lopsided distribution of wealth, security, and opportunity in America could come roaring back."

Hear that, folks? With Nancy, Charley, Barney & friends at the helm, we could be embarking on a period of the radical redistribution of wealth by government fiat.

Psst: Bob, that voicemail is from Nancy: "Kuttner, couldn't you keep your mouth shut for three more days?!"

Aside: Kuttner frets over "how many votes [Republicans] will hide, deter, or steal." If you're a Republican reading this, wouldn't you love an election in which every vote counted and there was zero election fraud? Me too.

Overpaid media mouthpiece Kuttner probably has a team of lawyers and accountants setting up his tax shelters as we speak.

I wouldn't surprise me to find out I'm the only West Wing fan on the board...

One episode the Democratic President was outlining his philosophy - "When you have the law on your side, argue the law. When you have the facts argue the facts. When you have neither bang you fist on the table."

Well the Democrats have offered no compelling changes in laws or strategies but mainly run on not being Republicans - and thus a lot of table banging is needed.

For what reason does this guy want "the lopsided distribution of wealth" to come roaring back?

They never tell you that, do they?

The best answer you'll get is, "Because it's fair." Fair to who?

Everytime I hear a caller promote "raising taxes on the rich", I wish the host would ask him, "Why? What do you think that will accomplish?"

Will it put more money in the pockets of the poor?

Will it increase government revenues and reduce the deficit?

Will it create more jobs?

What will it do, exactly, besides punish the rich?

And why would they want to do that?

Because they are green with envy.

Ah, at last, we have an answer.

That sentence makes no sense if he is trying to say what I think he is trying to say. He needs to learn sentence organization.

And hear I thout Dems were edukated

I know who you mean. I loathe that guy so much I have a permanent mental block on his name. He was a big Kerry supporter, if I remember correctly.

Why ANYONE trusts him with their money I have no idea.

...the lopsided distribution of wealth, security, and opportunity in America...

There's much to be concerned about in this phrase.

Aside from "wealth", what does writer Kuttner mean by lopsided "security"? Are some folks too safe? Is America too powerful?

And lopsided "opportunity"? He must favor the state making hiring and business decisions. Ugh.

My alter-tagline applies.

Leftists such as Mister Kuttner have absolutely no idea how good they have things in this country. No idea just how wealthy, secure the general population is, and how much genuine opportunity we all have. And,

they have no clue as to how miserable THEY would be (along with everyone else), if their collectivist, redistributionist repressive society ever replaced our current one.

Kudos to Governsleast for a timely post.

In the Maryland race for comptroller, we have a choice between a Republican who was previously the Dean of a graduate college school of business (knows something about money) or a Dem who only won the primary because of the catfight between two other dem candidates. His current job: lobbyist in DC. His clients are unknown to this day....so much for news papers investigating anyone. He is a leftist from Takoma Park (a self-professed nuclear free zone). Since Maryland is 2 to 1 'rat, he'll probably win. It's too bad.

Yes, indeed, we lived with a democrat majority for 40 years. And they managed to wreck the intelligence community and the military as well as defund our South Vietnamese allies so the communists took over, resulting in millions dead.

We also got liberal Supreme Court justices, high taxes, and a bunch of other things I would just as soon not revisit.

So, in reponse to your comment, I would suggest that you are whistling in the dark.

Kuttner is an enthusiastic socialist. Unlike most of his pals in the Demagogic Party who constantly deceive the public about what they stand for, people like Kuttner and Bernie Sanders (VT) are at least open about the fact that they stand for socialism (though they often greatly understate the extent of government interventions and manipulations they support). So while virtually ALL of the leading figures of the Demagogic Party are flagrant liars and dissemblers, at least Kuttner can say he does not pretend to believe in freedom, capitalism, and America.

They will stop it the way they did it to his dad...refuse to fund the military until he signs the bill. Apparently most people forget that this is how the tax increase happened when we had our troops over in Saudi Arabis during Desert Shield (prior to invading in Desert Storm).

"Globe Columnist Admits Dem Majority Could Bring 'Roaring' Redistribution of Wealth"

Not likely because the 'wealthy' will immediately hide assets, close businesses, leave the country and otherwise stymie the idea. There will be a poorer low class and NO middle class, what ever that is. Wife and I get $2600/month SSI benes and are considered "wealthy".
