I think they are right. Some of the latest polls are showing some very interesting changes. McGavick has pulled within 4 points of Cantwell in Washington State in the latest Zogby poll. This hasn't been posted to Real Clear Politics. Dewine has closed to within 2 percentage points and Backwell has closed to within single digits. There is definently GOP momentum going into the home stretch. I think Steele is going to beat Cardin handily. This election is looking good.

Some of the latest polls are showing some very interesting changes. I think those trends were there all along. I'm convinced that the pollsters' strategy of late is to give the Dems a big (and false) polling advantage during the campaign season to encourage lemmings to "go along with the crowd." Then, as the election draws near, they have to release more close-to-accurate polls to maintain their reputations.

There is definently GOP momentum going into the home stretch. The GOP 72-hour GOTV machine appears to be running at close to 100% efficiency at this point. It's only 12:30 here and I've already gotten three phone calls reminding me that it's the last day of early voting (one from the GOP and two from candidates' campaigns offering rides), and two in-person visits. There's not going to be a single registered Republican in the entire United States that is going to make it to Tuesday evening without being contacted at least once or twice.
The Voter Vault is a Godsend.
Rove, you magnificent bastard!

Hmmmmm....interesting situation in Washington state. Maybe we will see some backlash and payback for the old "Seattle vote count" used against Dino Rossi.

Good take on the momentum issue. This weirdness with the polls is something that has happened essentially since the President has been in office.
Rove has mastered two things, one the ability to really turn out the base and second, but most important, timing the upswing of the candidates PERFECTLY for the weekend right before the election. Like runners using that last burst of energy to pull ahead right at the tape.
It used to be, from what I can tell, that the week before the election a candidates numbers pretty much solidified and held there. What is happening now is that within the last two weeks of an election, the Dem numbers crystallize and start to fall, while the GOP numbers start to gain and peak on election day...completely faking out the pollsters, but timing it just right to win at that ballot box.
I am still trying to figure out what strategies they are using to do this, but it is really working well and has been very consistent...and has confounded the pollsters in every race since this administration took over.
McGavick's numbers are a case in point. We may just pull this thing out after all and that will be a HUGE victory. (Note that I am a Zogby interactive poll taker and have quit taking them in the last two weeks. I don't WANT him to know where I stand at this point.)
I am still trying to get a handle on what they are doing, but one very important aspect is grabbing and holding the bully pulpit by going around the msm and getting their big players out of DC and stumping on the ground.
In any case, I'm cautiously optimistic about Tuesday.

I hope you are right, but if so we can look forward to another two years of incessant whining and yammering about Diebold and all the rest of the 'rat incontinence.

Haven't you learned anything from the last 3 election cycles in Washington State? McGavick has to win by at least 5% points to win that election. Democrats have a way of "finding" votes in King County during recounts.

Are you saying DeWine has closed to within two in a Zogby poll?

I agree with the author. Not because I know anything special about any polls. I don't. But I think as election day draws closer, people are getting serious, and enough of them deep down know that the Democrats are NOT what this country needs during this particular war.
