Zogby Poll: Blackwell Closes to Single Digits COLUMBUS Gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell has closed within single digits of his opponent in the last week of the campaign. The Wall Street Journal Zogby Interactive Poll today shows the race has narrowed to 7.5 points with Blackwell receiving 43.3 percent and Congressman Ted Strickland receiving 50.8 percent. The poll was conducted from Oct. 23 - 27 and has a 3.7 percent margin of error. Previous surveys have shown Strickland with a double-digit lead. The Blackwell campaign attributed the gap-closing poll to increased voter awareness and an emerging re-energized Republican base. Over the past several weeks, Republican grassroots voter contact efforts have reached several hundred thousand Republican and Independent voters. In addition, the campaign yesterday launched a major television advertising effort featuring national hero and former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. We are campaigning door-to-door and neighbor-to-neighbor in the last weeks of the campaign and seeing great results, Blackwell campaign chair Lara Mastin said. The polls are closing because Ken Blackwells solutions to our states education, health care and economic challenges offer a positive change of direction for Ohio families." We have the ground forces, resources and message necessary to take Ken Blackwell to victory on Nov. 7, Mastin added. Zogby International, one of the nations most historically accurate polling firms, touts its interactive poll as the wave of the future in survey research. In the 2004 presidential election, the survey accurately predicted the winner in 85 percent of the states that it polled within 4 points on average. In 2005, the poll accurately predicted the results of both the New Jersey and Virginia gubernatorial contests, with poll results within 2.5 points on average.

Is this an internet or telephone poll?
The Poodle's contribution, when he tossed his big satchel charge of C-4 into the bunker of RAT hopes, simply cannot be underestimated.
This is great news. I think the GOP black candidates are going to get a higher vote than the polls predict. I think Steele, Swann and Blackwell will all get more of the black vote than the poll reveal.
The infamous Zogby "special sauce"?
there was an article just last night burying this good man...The drive by's are full of $%*#
Blackwell is a good man, a man of his talent and calibre is definitely needed in Ohio, hope he gets elected as Governor.
There's been evidence of a slow, sustained movement towards the GOP all over the map over the last 10 days.
Will it be enough in some of the races that dems had broader leads, though?
Great drama.
That is a good question. Just wait until the Saddam verdict comes out tomorrow. The irony is that it is a gift from Iraq that will give the GOP a real boost before the election. Just watch CNN try to spin it as a bad thing. If the Dems are smart they will staple their mouths shut on that till election day but they won't. They will get caught defending Saddam Hussien because the mentally unstable can not help themselves.
The best thing the GOP has going for it is the nature of their opposition. The dems seem pathologically incapable of not overplaying their hand.
Keep the faith.
Add in the superior Republican GOTV effort, and next Tuesday evening could be very enjoyable.
How does the Saddam verdict effect our election?
I am a volunteer for Santorum {taking a break after 50 calls this morning} and either I hit the "good call list" or the demonRATS are going to be very disappointed on the 8th.
The breakdown is:
38 Will definitely vote for Rick {plus spouses and relatives}
8 not home - left messages
2 Disconnected numbers
2 going to vote bobby jr. These two losers wanted to waste my time and get into an argument but I'm too busy to try and convert losers at this stage. I thanked them and made the next call.
Hey PA Residents {the same for Ohio folks}, it's not too late for you to volunteer to make calls or poll watch, or drive people to the polls. Give Rick and Swann {and Blackwell and even dewhiner} some help, the response is very good. Keep the faith, pray on Sunday and vote on Tuesday.
The Poodle dumped big-time...
Internet "poll." Really a survey, and should be ignored.
He dumped like a bull elephant! The MSM has tried to sweep it under the rug as quickly as possible (to extend the metaphor). But it still stinks up the RATs' campaigns big time.
The poll was conducted before Halloween....it doesn't have any importance now.
What are polls showing that were made THIS WEEK?
It will only get better from here. Awesome!
May I suggest you join me in copying one or both of the following and emailing them to absolutely everyone you can -- and ask them to do the same :

They have more to do with the Senate race than the one for Governor, but it WILL help get otherwise unmotivated Republicans to actually get off their butts and GET OUT AND VOTE !!!
Also, be creative: find the email addresses of the officers, staff and members of various clubs and Chambers of Commerce in the towns around you and the areas you're most concerned about.
