Yes, as a matter of fact, there are playgrounds in Iraq (Please see the last photo in this series.)

I am the Civil Affairs Officer for an MP unit. I work directly with the people of Iraq. Once a week, we visit a local clinic to provide medical care, health education, clothing, shoes, food, and toys to these people.

A reporter, here, once asked me what my mission was and I told him. His next question was if I knew where the Infantry guys were. I never saw him again. The media is only interested in "guts-on-the-ground" stories. apparently "Good news is no news."

I thank you all for your support. We are all in this together. Thanks for doing your part, it makes a difference.

These two little girls adopted me.

Handing out beanie babies.

She kept trying to swing higher to reach the candy, yes, I gave it to her on the third try.

This little girl wasn't heavy enough to work the teeter-totter, so I gave her a hand. (note the sign in the background)

This is a close-up of the sign in the background and THIS IS WHY there are now playgrounds in Iraq.

If anyone is interested in sharing these pictures, feel free to copy them here, or E-mail me for the original high-resolution versions. Please do not link to the original URL. Yes, this is really me, and yes I am really here.

Thanks for what you are doing!

And no amount of thanks is remotely enough for those who gave their last full measure of devotion.

Thank you for posting these.

My son was there for a year with his unit, knows exactly what your're talking about, has quite a few pics like these. He told me most of his fellow soldiers mistrusted our media over there, because they had seen how it was being reported and knew the agenda. I doubt they would want to interview him for the Sunday section of the NYTimes.

Thank you for your service and your sacrifice.

Whaaaaat? The soldiers are handing out candy too? Stop the insanity.; This is outrageous! I'm calling John Kerry and having im protest these abuses! How dare hte soldiers terrorize those youngsters with kindness! Is there no end to their depravity? I'm calling the ACLU- there must be soem angle that the troops can be sued for those outrageous acts of caring. My gosh- didn't the soldiers folks raise them better than that? I'm petitioning congress to ban teeterboarding as inhuman teatemnt of civilians and cruel and unusual punishment! Who's with me? Let's stamp out sweetness and caring! Do away with curel and unusual acts of kindness! Ban encouragement! Away with you kind sirs and ladies. Away I say!

"Thank you" is not enough, but it is all I have. That and that you and all of your comrades, as well as the people of Iraq, are in my prayers.

To God Almighty,
The Lord of Israel,
May Michael be at your right hand,
Gabriel at your left hand,
Before you Raphael and
Behind you Uriel,
And above you the Divine Presence of God.
