I re-read the caption and can't decipher if it says she was shot in the head or the hand. I suspect it was her head. The article says her family was "executed." That often means bullets to the head.

First waterboarding, now teeter boarding! THE HORROR!
Maybe they are teetering AFTER seeing that teeter totter film from the 1970's showing the stack of cups on the dropped teeter, and relating it to spinal injury. I know that film made me see the teeter as nothing but a medeval torture device.

beckysueb,
You are 100% correct. The soldiers here take the treats from their own care packages to hand out to the kids. We are doing pretty well, at least at our FOB as far as necessities go. We even have a small PX set up here.
As for the generosity of the soldiers, You spoke of toiletries for the Iraqi people - Yes, that is a popular request. The last time we visited the clinic, one of my soldiers asked if we could stop by the mini-PX on the way. When I asked what he needed, he told me that he promised a little girl that he would bring her some shampoo. How could I say no to that? He bought her some with his own money.
One thing that is also never mentioned, this generosity pays off. many of the local Iraqis are more than eager to mention to us when "strangers" move into their area. The local Iraqis KNOW who their friends are, They just fear the reprisals from the terrorists. They fear even more that we will leave Iraq.
To: KSoldier
I heard a soldier talking to Rush Limbaugh the other day and he said that the left's constant harping that we must leave Iraq is affecting the Iraqi people and that they will turn against us if they think they may be killed after we leave. The left did this to the VietNam vets, now they are trying to do it to you guys.

Thanks so much for the ping.
I can see by the delight and joy in the kids eyes this is something John Kerry will never see. I don't think he likes people to be happy.
God Bless our Soldiers they are true hero's in every since!!!

"Thank you" is not enough, but it is all I have. That and that you and all of your comrades, as well as the people of Iraq, are in my prayers.

Before you Raphael and
Behind you Uriel,
And above you the Divine Presence of God.

beckysueb,
Right again. I hear a lot of 60's rejects claiming how it was the protesters who ended the war in Viet Nam.
I say to them... "If you are claiming responsibility for bringing the US out of Viet Nam, then take some responsibility to the slaughter of the innocent people which occurred directly following our withdrawal."
It was our presence there which was protecting those people. It was our absence which allowed the "Kmer Rouge" to murders thousands of innocent people unopposed.
It is my belief that the place of the American soldier is in between the innocent and the danger.
These Liberals should try standing outside of a burning building and protest against the firefighters trying to go in and rescue the occupants because "it is just too dangerous."
I am sure the firefighters would rather not go into a dangerous burning building. I am sure they would much rather be home with their families. But, you see, they are a firefighters.
I am sure they would love to tell the world how it was they who saved a bunch of firefighters. But the way I see it... they allowed the occupants in that burning building to suffer and die horribly.
Yes, these Liberals disgust me. They cry and whine about losing our freedoms in America, yet are willing to turn their backs on oppression everywhere else.
Anyway, thank you all for the kind words and support. It is late here and I have to get some sleep. I will try to get back online tomorrow evening. I'm glad I made some friends tonight.
