Note: A man in undercover assignment inside N. Korea filmed many scenes and events with his hidden video equipment while he was traveling from Sariwon, Hwang-hae Province to Pyongyang. The following is the photos taken from his video clip. It was filmed this summer right after N. Korea's missile launches.

The guy on the left is a homeless in his 30's. He has some money stashed inside his hat. Those on the right are young homeless kids.

At the bus station for out-of-town services, the homeless kids panhandle at each bus. One of them carries a baby on his back.

This is the park, called, "Red Star Station Park," located at Seosung District in Pyongyang.

Kids are catching pine worms. They are proliferating due to lack of pesticide. The kid on the lower right is a homeless at the park.

At each block unit in Pyongyang, one can get a beer ticket for half a liter of beer each month at 50 won. At the black market, it sells at 400 won. Old folks with lots of spare time collect these tickets and sell them to young people at 200~300 won a piece. This picture shows a booth where one can get approval stamp for each beer ticket. This one is located at Dae-hung-dong, Sunkyo District.

Sobie Vehicle(a privately operated shuttle) is taking cargos and passengers, until they are jam-packed. They do not leave until there is absolutely no space left. Since safety issue is totally ignored, it is prone to create high fatality accident.

This is a cement market at Sori-dong, Sariwon. Various kinds of cement are on sale per kilogram unit.

At a rural part of Sariwon, sheets of plywood and vegetables(dropwort) are loaded onto a military truck. It is Seung-ri-58 transport truck(Seung-ri means victory,) powered by charcoal engine. You can see smoke engulfing the driver seat once its engine starts. It takes a while to get the smoke out.

It shows a decree posted at a clinic located at Nak-rang District, Pyongyang.

The decree is titled, "On the severe punishment of cutting off power lines or communication lines or trafficking drugs."

The content warns, " You should not cut out power lines or communication lines, and trade them, nor trade illegal drugs. If you see people doing it, report them to authorities. Drug traffickers should turn themselves in within 10 days, or will be met with severe punishment, which ranges all the way up to execution."

It was issued by Public Security Ministry, and dated Juche 93(2004.)

That is a grossly immoral choice, when north korea is basically one large death camp. Those are their relatives.

Very sad to think that a leader would just sit back and let his nation die like that. Your civilians are ultimately (or should be) the heart of your nation, in a normal society, I guess, and the politicians and governing figures should come together to make the "skeletal shell" so to speak. It's a real shame we have countries out there that are so a$$ backwards their biggest worry is to compete, defeat, and try to destroy other great nations. It's a good thing their heads are so far up their a$$es that is just an illusion!

My guess is that they burn the charcoal in a deliberately inefficient was to produce a lot of carbon monoxide, which is then piped into an ordinary internal combustion engine and burned in that engine. CO is combustible because it lacks the extra oxygen atom of CO2.

Actually, it is not what you think. The purpose here is rather rudimentary pest control. Pyongyang is not in dire famine(not yet anyway.) When they have nothing but pine worms to eat in Pyongyang, N. Korean regime would have been already gone.
