President George W. Bush challenged Democrats on Friday to offer their plan for winning in Iraq as he swept across Republican strongholds in the U.S. heartland to try to help his party's candidates survive on Election Day.
Encouraging audience participation from thousands of Republican loyalists at a rally, Bush said Democrats should be asked, "What's your plan?" for winning in Iraq and a host of other national security issues separating the parties.
"What's your plan?" the audience yelled back.
"Truth is the Democrats can't answer that question," he said. "Harsh criticism is not a plan for victory."
Democrats seeking to recapture Congress have sought to cast Tuesday's elections as a referendum on Bush's handling of the Iraq war, where another five American troops were reported killed.
Defending the Iraq war is a central theme for Bush on a final pre-election blitz in 10 states.
Reflective of the difficult political landscape for Republicans, they were all states Bush won in 2004: Montana, Nevada, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, Nebraska, Kansas, Arkansas, Florida and Texas.

McCaskill's response in Missouri actually was that the President has no plan.
I guess, to win the war and help the Iraqis build a free nation, maintaining their own security isn't a plan, in the bowels of a Democrat's mind.

Bush stepped in it--now Kerry will whip out his plan, which he had prepared for when he became president, and Bush will have egg on his face! Hardcore lifelong Republicans will say "Kerry is RIGHT, damnit!" Donald Rumsfeld will announce "I've been so wrong, we should have been doing it this way all along. I blame myself." Grown men will weep! Babies will cry for more!
THANKS, George--now he'll tell us all his plan, we'll all see how smart it is, and the Dems will sweep back into power! Sheesh! ;)

Actually submitting a plan would expose the Democrats as having a position other than opposing Bush. They might actually have to think rather than emote for a change. That's quite a challenge, Mr. President.

They have had two elections now to come up with a plan, yet they still offer nothing.
The easiest way to shut up a liberal is to ask him/her what the Democrats plan to do with Iraq once they take over.

I'll tell you what the Dim plan is. It is the same tactics used in Viet Nam, their favorite war, when they declared victory and left. They will perform the Iraqization of the Iraq conflict, pull out of Iraq, and absorb tens of thousands of Iraqis as they flee the beheadings and executions of the various extremist groups that will rise from the ashes. As Iraq duplicates the killing fields, the Dims will say "look at what Nixon... I mean Bush did". Meanwhile the Arab extremists will tell their myriad subscribers "look, America runs, they have no appetite for conflict, we only need to wait them out".

Bush stepped in it--now Kerry will whip out his plan Yes. But, his plan is so intellectually sophisticated I doubt any of our dimwitted troops in Iraq can carry it out.

I prefer GWB's
"... anger is not an agenda, and a litany of complaints is not a plan."
from the 2004 campaign, but the meaning is the same.
