New Integration Minister Debates Islamic Veils
Integration Minister Nyamko Sabuni Sweden’s outspoken new integration minister contributed to a growing debate in Europe about Islamic veils on Thursday, saying headscarves had the effect of ”isolating” Muslim schoolgirls.
Nyamko Sabuni also told the news agency Reuters in an interview that she was closely watching the outcome of a dispute over a school that barred a nine-year-old from wearing a headscarf.
Sabuni, who fled to Sweden from Burundi when she was 12, stated ”Where in the Muslim scripture does it say that children shall wear a headscarf? No where. The purpose of a headscarf is for a woman to hide her charms from men whom she could marry.”
She added that ”The headscarf is a means of isolating the girl from her surroundings.”
37 year old Sabuni became Sweden’s first black cabinet minister following September elections that brought a centre-right government to power after 12 years of Social Democratic rule.
Sabuni, who is not herself a Muslim but comes from a Muslim family, must reconcile integration ideas she has proposed in the past to parliament with the new government’s milder policies.
Sabuni has shelved proposals that caused Swedish Muslim groups to protest her elevation to cabinet, but she holds fast to a personal view that headscarves should be prohibited in school for those under 15, Sweden’s age of consent.
Schools in Sweden, with an estimated Muslim population of up to 400,000, have since 2003 had the right to ban full-face veils, although the country has been largely inured to a growing debate about religious headgear in other European nations.
Leading Swedish muslim organizations estimate that around 15% of these "muslims" have turned their backs on Islam and wish not to be associated with their "religion of birth".
Swedes in general would probably strike most americans as a very secularized bunch, being regretfully out of touch with Christianity. But most native swedes actually display a far worse attitude towards Islam, although they'd probably not show it in public.
Our new Integration Minister Nyamko Sabuni, I would say, is still a very popular person in my home country. One of the reason to this is her daring and outspoken way of dealing with the infected issues of muslim fundamentalism in Sweden and her opinions on the shortcomings of the Swedish muslims in the field of adopting to a modern Western society based on education, democracy and high-tech industry.
I fear you are right.
However, Western schools is a wonderful thing.
Although most pupils of the West experience schools as a very boring thing, they do teach us the right values;
Democracy.
Freedom of Speech.
Belief in scientific and technological progress.
Personally, I've went to schools in both the UK and Sweden and I forgive all of my teachers for sometimes wishing I'd been born without ears.
The culture of the West continues to be the shining beacon of humanity

Wearing of headscarves is not only the symbol of isolation/separation of female muslims from society, it is a symbol of female subordination to the male, muslim or not. If the West - free world - could understand this basic truth, it could realize one of the most effective ways of subduing islamism.
Although I respect the religion of Islam in general, I must admit this picture illustrates the fact that several muslims interpret the Koran - be it by tradition or out of individual conviction - that results in a ridiculous and laughable behavior.
As long as you don't do harm to other people, I guess you should be allowed to behave the way you find proper, but all the sam I'm glad to be born in Sweden, Europe.

My father, who is a highly educated man and who furthermore is in daily contact with muslims students (he is a Professor of History) always point out that women's rights is a much bigger issue in the muslim community than most westerners think.

The history of Western Europe would undeniably be very different had the Frankish army been defeated in 732.

Today, the long clash between Christendom and Islam is still evident in the political and ethnic geography of Europe, Africa, Byzantium, and north into Russia.
The battle also extends, in varying degrees, throughout the Near and Far East, and the Islands of the Pacific as well.
Many Christian knights, soldiers, and sailors have died defending Christendom against the onslaughts of Islam down through the centuries.
Today, the borders of many European countries, Canada, and the United States are practically wide open, and the old enemy is invited to come in and make himself at home.
And many 'Christians' in the West are just too busy enjoying their material prosperity to be bothered with unpleasant history.
But the enemy has not forgotten history. He remembers it all too well, and he is still deadly serious about his religion.
His goal over the years has not changed in the slightest, and he is very patient. The enemy within is now smiling, just biding his time.
And long dead Christian knights, our ancestors in the Faith, are probably turning over in their graves right about now, trying desperately to shout out a warning. The final chapter, it seems, has yet to be written....

NOTHING more scares the muslim male than the empowerment of its females in society. When an islamic clergy/molla attacks the "Westernization" of islamic societies, he is more than anything using code language to describe and attack the empowerment and civil rights for the muslim female which scares him most.
Those were the invasion routes that the muslims used to conquer Africa, Asia...soon to conquer all of Europe ?

There have been several cases of muslims doing harm to other muslims/immigrants in Malmö, but in general the only way "muslims" attack native swedes in Malmö is that of muslim teenagers robbing swedish teenagers and/or youngsters of all other ethnic groups of things like mobile (cellular) phones and stuff like that.
Malmö (3rd biggest city in Sweden and a part of the Copenhagen-Malmö-Lund-Helsingborg Conurbation of 3 million inhabitants), indeed has more poor muslim immigrants than any other city in Scandinavia in proportion to it's population and there sure are problems in connection to this matter, but it isn't as bad as some people on Freerepublic seem to believe.
Malmö is a far more secure place than, for instance, Flint or Detroit.
