Muslim association "surprised" at absence of land

Muslim’s association ‘surprised’ at absence of land

The Muslim’s Association of Iceland has sent out a press release in which it expresses its surprise at not having been awarded land to build a mosque in Reykjavík, while the Reykjavík District Council has signed a declaration of intent to award the Russian Orthodox Church and the Pagan Society of Iceland land to build places of worship. This is reported in the main online media.

The Muslim’s Association first applied for land to build a mosque seven years ago, but has received no definitive answer from the city. While the Association would like to congratulate the other two denominations, it also wishes to reiterate the necessity of being awarded a place for a mosque and for religious denominations in the city not to be discriminated against, according to the press release.

About paganism, it is more of a cultural association, some kind of rebels against the church, and I doupt any of them actually beliews in the old gods.

As stated in the article you pointed to, the pagans seem to be getting a prime realestate land in the Öskjuhlíð, wich is a forested hill in the middle of the city.

You can see a picture from the hill and the local landmark Perlan here:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perlan

I once heard a story about a foreign diplomat from a country with a sisable muslim population, asking when seeing this structure how come the muslims had such influence here, being able to own the obviously most expensive house in the city.

It is not strange question to ask actually, you only would have to add like one or four minarets and voilla, it would be a moska.

About why they don´t just buy a land, I don´t know, we in the pentacostal and free christian churches here do that periodically when we expand or move our operations.

Maybe they want to get a prime realestate from the city council from wich they have applied, but now their operation is run in house in an industrial section of town. I don´t know weather religous groups can ask for a land without payment or something like that, but as I understand it, every time you want to build something in Reykjavík and most other towns and places in Iceland, you have to apply for a land and such from the authorities.

At least if you own a land within the city limits, wich is unlikely as most of it is owned by the city I beliewe, the city counsil still has planning control over it I think.

But I guess it is all about getting a central, and an important location.

I doupt the muslim population here is significant, it jumped a little when we accepted refugees from Kosowo, but I doupt they are more than around 300 to 500 hundred.

It can though matter in a country with only 300 thousand people.

I am a little bit concerned about the other religious group that seems to be getting a land, that is the russian orhtodox church. As I understand it, there are now two orthodox churches here (not having a church though, just a congregation), a russian one, and a serbian one.

I would think it would be more important to ensure that there was one, icelandic orthodox church where both groups would unite into a one church, speaking Icelandic and such, but not a tool by the russians to keep the russian immigrants here russians down the generations.

Even though she was a commited Euro-socialist,. she was vehemently against muslim immigration to Iceland...

Good news.

What attributes thereto in particular had given her the wake-up call?

I.e., persuaded her to reject the MSM's cover-story which uncritically swallowed and repeated the self-branding by the Islamicists as the "Religion of Peace."TM

It could be useful to emphasize...

Icelanders are homogenous, at least still, but we are a far cry from being xenophopic. I am a little offended by this remark, and specially the link put between the two.

Just not all that much land to go around in Iceland.

Maybe a little room could be found on top of a thermal vent a few miles out of town. Since these Muslims come from relatively warm countries, they may be happier to have some scalding steam blowing through their mosque.

The Icelanders are a lot closer to the worship of Odin than they are to the worship of Allah. So awarding a permit to the Pagans does make more sense.

I have never seen anything about Iceland that appealed to me except when Ronnie Reagan told Gorby where to shove it.

"...I am a little offended by this remark,..."

You won't be when the muslims start pack-raping your girls the same as they do in Australia...

http://www.angelfire.com/folk/aclu/terror_in_our_midst.htm

First they will build a mosque, then comes the imam who tells them women who do not wear hijab are 'asking for it' -

The Australian — NewsRevealed: the Mufti uncut

snipped

But in the event of adultery, the responsibility falls 90 per cent of the time with women. Why? Because the woman possesses the weapon of seduction. She is the one who takes her clothes off, cuts them short, acts flirtatious, puts on make-up and powder, and goes on the streets dallying. She is the one wearing a short dress, lifting it up, lowering it down, then a look, then a smile, then a word, then a greeting, then a chat, then a date, then a meeting, then a crime, then Long Bay Jail, then comes a merciless judge who gives you 65years.

But the whole disaster, who started it? The Al-Rafihi scholar says in one of his literary works, he says: If I come across a crime of rape - kidnap and violation of honour - I would discipline the man and teach him a lesson in morals, and I would order the woman be arrested and jailed for life.

Why, Rafihi? He says, because if she hadn't left the meat uncovered, the cat wouldn't have snatched it. If you take a kilo of meat, and you don't put it in the fridge, or in the pot, or in the kitchen, but you put in on a plate and placed it outside in the yard. Then you have a fight with the neighbour because his cats ate the meat. Then (inaudible). Right or not?

If one puts uncovered meat out in the street, or on the footpath, or in the garden, or in the park, or in the backyard without a cover, then the cats come and eat it, is it the fault of the cat or the uncovered meat? The uncovered meat is the problem! If it was covered the cat wouldn't have. It would have circled around it and circled around it, then given up and gone.

If she was in her room, in her house, wearing her hijab, being chaste, the disasters wouldn't have happened. The woman possesses the weapon of seduction and temptation. That's why Satan says about the woman, "You are half a soldier. You are my messenger to achieve my needs. You are the last weapon I would use to smash the head of the finest of men. There are a few men that I use a lot of things with, but they never heed me. But you? Oh, you are my best weapon."

Muslims in Iceland celebrate Eid al-Fitr
The end of Ramadan, the month of fasting, was celebrated by Muslims in Iceland with the traditional Eid al-Fitr feast in a mosque in Reykjavík yesterday.

Around 70 people took part in yesterday’s celebration. Salmann Tamimi, head of the Muslim Society in Iceland, told Morgunbladid that Eid al-Fitr is similar to Christmas, the children wear new clothes and exchange presents.

The guests contributed with their own homemade dishes to the international buffet, which included Indonesian, Eritrean and Egyptian food.

Eid al-Fitr is a three-day celebration, where the first day is the most festive one. The celebration traditionally begins with a prayer before dinner is served. Eid al-Fitr was first celebrated by Prophet Muhammed and his followers in year 624.

Around 350 people are registered members of the Muslim Society in Iceland, but Tamimi believes that the total number of Muslims in Iceland is closer to 800.

One day very soon the Icelanders will wake up that's 800 too many!

Then things must have changed. My shipmates tell me that when they were deployed to NAS Keflavik, Icelandic women would date only light-complected officers.

When was this?

Yes Icelandic society has changed a lot during my twenty-something life, to the good in most part, we have privatised and deregulated and abandoned socialism in many ways and become rich in the process.

For a while black men were all the fad among Icelandic women, although I think that has mostly ceased again. Still, someone that has dark complexion is exotic and strange but now with more immigration it is maybe not so any more.

If it was long time ago, you can not though really blame them. If out of that date would have come a child, that child would have been so much different than all the other childs wich as you understand children, could have been difficult for it.

Once when I was a small boy, there was a ship with some black members in the Reykjavík harbor. Two of them went for a walk, and while walking along the main road through the city, there become a traffic jam, because everyone stopped or slowed down to look at them. Most of that people had never ever seen a black man ever except maybe in TV and they were not very common there either. Just curiosity, not Xenophopic.

To be fair, Icelanders are notoriously xenophobic and utterly homogeneous.

And that is precisely why Icelanders will still _be_ Icelanders, long after the mainland of Europe has degenerated into Eurabia.

No multiculturalism there. Their "xenophobia" and, well - racism - will _protect_ their nation, their culture, their identity, and their ethnic makeup.

If the other nationalities of Europe had chosen to be the same, they would have had a chance. But they chose "tolerance" and multiculturalism, and we of Free Republic seem to understand quite well the chances that ethnic Europeans face today.

What about human nature could make _our own_ future in the United States any different?
