Muslim’s association ‘surprised’ at absence of land
The Muslim’s Association of Iceland has sent out a press release in which it expresses its surprise at not having been awarded land to build a mosque in ReykjavÃk, while the ReykjavÃk District Council has signed a declaration of intent to award the Russian Orthodox Church and the Pagan Society of Iceland land to build places of worship. This is reported in the main online media.
The Muslim’s Association first applied for land to build a mosque seven years ago, but has received no definitive answer from the city. While the Association would like to congratulate the other two denominations, it also wishes to reiterate the necessity of being awarded a place for a mosque and for religious denominations in the city not to be discriminated against, according to the press release.

Iceland has their priorities straight.
It's so ironic how the Europeans used to such tough fighters in defense of their Christian heritage, or before that the pagan heritage. The old Celts and Viking stories of valiant warriors still fascinate me. Images of the Valkyries flying off dying Viking warriors into Valhalla. The stuff of romantic literature. How did it turn into such a continent of wusses? Such a pity....where are Thor and Odin when you need them?
Land? for Iclandic Mooslems? Jeepers, these cockroaches are everywhere.
The old norse beliefs shared the belief with the muslims of the importance of dying in battle. If I am not mistaken, the only way to get into Valhalla, was to die in battle.
As a Christian, I can see that our belief can be a weakness when it comes to fighting the islamic threat.
Iceland is tiny. And, I mean really tiny.
A couple of years of Swedish like immigration figures and Iceland would be history.
I dated an Icelandic girl a little while ago. Even though she was a commited Euro-socialist,. she was vehemently against muslim immigration to Iceland...

In Norway, as far as I know, the old norse beliefs are mostly popular among a tiny "neo nazi" type sect.
I think Iceland has something like 300 000 inhabitants in total.
They should not let any in. There are probably some stupid UN convention they have signed.

Why in Iceland do you have to "apply" to the government for land - can't you just BUY land? Why does the government have to "award" land to religious groups?
