NEW YORK, Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Tough-guy actor Robert De Niro is telephoning New Yorkers to remind them to re-elect Democratic Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton next week.
The New York Daily News reported Thursday that not only is DeNiro, star of gangster classic "Goodfellas," getting out the vote for Clinton via a recording, but velvet-voiced crooner Tony Bennett also is landing on answering machines in the run-up to the midterm elections.
Soon, Paul Newman, also will be heard on the telephone messages supporting the New York Democrat.
Termed "robo-calls," a prerecorded message from a well-known person is aimed at inspiring the public to cast their votes for candidates of choice. They're apparently successful. The Daily News says that each call only costs about 3 to 5 cents and that they're protected as a form of political speech.

What is it with all the liberals in Hollywood? Is there something in the water out there? Do the few conservatives drink bottled water?

None of these political naifs are has-beens. I saw Tony Bennett last summer. He sold out the venue in an hour or so and his voice was as great as ever.
The point is they are political naifs. I don't think they really spend any time studying the issues or thinking independently of the Hollywood party line. That would take too much effort and their illusions would be shattered. They are content to run with the pack.

I guess it's pretty bad when Hollywood types need to stoke your voter base for you. That doesn't say much for the substance or the gravitas of your message as a candidate and is says even less for your credibility as a leader.

When you have no shame you have no pride. Oh well...

Obviously one of the greatest film actors I have ever seen. (Although he should knock it off with the broad, and unfunny, comedies.)

No way "Vito Corleone", "Jake La Motta" or "Jimmy Conway" are casting a vote for that anti-American shrew, Hillary.

    Did you hear about Hillary?
 She is ugly and shrillary.
She is a slippery, slimy slug.
FBI files are up to her bung.
 Between her eyes, socialism lies.
 But between her thighs,

    "tough guy" DeNiro? LMAO

Just another actor who if he ever even set foot on a battlefield would probably shiite all over himself.
