Meanwhile, Merry Jokester John Kerry isn't the only former standard- bearer the Democrats are frantically running away from as Tuesday's midterm elections approach. Some of them seem truly sorry that they rehabilitated Jimmy Carter, America's self-appointed hair shirt.
Indeed, Democrats from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi on down are scrambling furiously to disassociate themselves from the 39th president, thanks to his new book, which denounces Israel for its supposed "apartheid" policy.
Pelosi and Democratic National Chairman Howard Dean, together with other leading Democrats, issued statements declaring that - contrary to the ex-prez's own assertion - Carter "does not speak for other Democrats" when it comes to Israel.
We don't blame the Democrats, who are so busy ducking for cover on this one that they're tripping over themselves and each other.
Then again, they are the ones who brought Carter back from political isolation by allowing him to address their 2004 national convention - and then sitting him in the presidential box next to radical film-maker Michael Moore.
And it was the same Jimmy Carter whom candidate Kerry actually proposed that year as an ideal presidential special envoy to the Middle East peace process - until Carter's open hostility toward Israel was explained to him.
Indeed, there's little in this new book that Carter hasn't said before. According to published reports, he denounces Israel for "depriving Palestinians of their basic human rights" and declares flatly that "Israel's continued control and colonization of Palestinian land have been the primary obstacles to a comprehensive peace agreement."
What's different this time around is the deliberately incendiary and politically provocative use of the word "apartheid" in the title to describe Israeli policy.

It is apartheid! They erected a wall between the Israelis and the terrorists.
It is one thing, of course, to get up on national television and make some assertion, and another altogether to get what was said down in a reproducable medium, where that assertion may be picked over, and parsed, and meaning read into it the original speaker never intended.
Newspapers may simply stop talking about or reporting something after the first appearance of anything that looks like it may turn into a huge problem for the favored individual. Something like the Internet, though, can take a story that would ordinarily be buried in a few days, and run with it, flashing around the world seemingly in seconds, and resurfacing AFTER the discussion is officially closed by the great lords of the mainstream media.
Then they have to put the fires out all over again.
Why do they vote for democrats?

As do so many Catholics.
It dumb founds me.
Carter greatly resembles the caveman figure appearing in the Geico commercials.
That is why the Democrats want the government to be an internet "gatekeeper," censoring news and opinion so that the little people are shielded from inconvenient facts. These are the same leftists who think that foreign terrorists have some sort of American "civil right" to plot and share information unhindered and no one should even be allowed to snoop on them to find out what the terrorists are up to. These are often the same people who think that child pornography is or should be "protected speech." But ordinary citizens trying to get informed on the issues need an internet "gatekeeper" to spy on them and censor the news.
Just when I am convinced that Kerry simply cannot tell a joke he comes up with a real knee slapper. Go figure.
i MIGHT THROW A PARTY WHEN HE DIES.
