Olbermann's Arrogance (Should be Olbermann Loses Mind)
Real Clear Politics ^ | 11/2/06 | TOM BEVAN

Posted on 11/02/2006 2:00:01 PM PST by freespirited

Keith Olbermann's arrogance and pomposity have reached unbelievable heights this year. But he sets a new bar with this ten minute rant against President Bush (and John McCain) and in defense of John Kerry's "botched joke" from the other day.

It's telling that Olbermann starts his screed against Bush by arrogantly assserting, as Kerry did in his "I apologize to no one" speech the other day, that anyone who might have misinterpreted Kerry's words or taken them at face value is either a total moron or completely evil. "The context was unmistakable" Oblermann says, adding that there was "no interpretation required." Really? Is that why millions of Americans, including many U.S. troops from all around the world were offended by Kerry's remarks? But, of course, Keith Olbermann is clearly much smarter than all those people who were "too stupid" to get Kerry's lame joke - even though he "botched" it.

That's exactly the sort of elitist attitude that Americans hate, whether it's coming from a stuck up Senator from Beacon Hill or a stuffed shirt former sports broadcaster who now fancies himself the reincarnation of Edward R. Murrow. Here's the whole ten minutes of Olbermann's unadulterated arrogance, if you can stomach it:

TOUGH DECISION FOR FREEPERS TO THINK ABOUT:

If you were walking by a lake and saw Keith Olbermann and Ted Rall drowning and you could only save one of them, would you go to the movies or take a nap?

Since nothing he says is correct on its face, and the kooks have nothing to fear from the President, his fans seem to be enjoying a fictional program.

It is almost as if they wish it was so, and Olberman would go to jail for speaking "truth to power", so that their fantasies will come true.

Maybe its drugs? Hallucinations?

Oberman and all the other left wing twits will go overboard with conspiracy theories on Nov 8th.

The left will go throught the stages of death when they lose again.

Stage one DENIAL!

Olbermann, like other democrat leftists, is insane. Stepping back and observing his behavior, how can anyone come to any other conclusion? Facts and logic leave him out in the cold. He is cute and snide and almost funny at times, but he is locked into a mind-set that denies reality. What he doesn't realize is that if America falls to an ememy, he will be among the first to be executed. It has always been so in history. What conquering force would want such an inborn traitor in it's midst? Guys like Olbermann think that being soft on the enemy will leave them in good stead with the enemy. How pathetic! From Hannibal to Alexander to Caesar the opposite was true!

Olbermann is unbearable. He's absolutely the worst personality on television. I could stand more that a few seconds.

"The context was unmistakable" Oblermann says, adding that there was "no interpretation required." This is absolutely true, for once Olberman has it right. Kerry said exactly what is reported. Unfortunately Olberman doesn't understand the English language.

This is the first and last time that I will bump an Oberman thread by posting to it, so I'll get right to the point: Everybody knows that Oberman is nothing but a mouse who (apparently) does his best daily to lie and spin his way into the hearts and minds of the insignificant MSNBC audience of liberal goofballs. So why on God's green earth do we see this clown's name on an FR thread title every day? It is utterly beyond me. Who are these self-flagellating conservatives who waste their precious time on earth watching Oberman and reporting his latest buffoonery?

In my very humble opinion, the best thing that could happen is for Oberman's name to appear in public as little as possible. Sooner or later he will fade away into the oblivion he so richly deserves.

(All: Please do not reply to this post, because that would bump the thread. Thank you.)

Olberman belongs on the Comedy channel as part of the Daily Show. What he does can no longer be regarded as news worthy.

Hmmm. Maybe I should start Tivo'ing Olberman. I already record South Park and The Office, but a little more comic relief can't hurt. Only problem is I might double his ratings.

That video showed Olberman is a deeply disturbed man, who's allowed his hatred of Bush to warp his judgement.

That was an extremely ugly display by a very small man.

I read Olbermann's column, linked from an earlier thread, and had to respond. Here's the e-mail I penned to Countdown. I was MUCH more generous than I felt like being, but I wanted someone to actually read it.

"Sure, people can read the full Kerry transcript and fathom that the Senator was attempting to demean Bush...

But even far-left-leaning partisans can acknowledge that Kerry's botched wording left the intent of the "joke" ambiguous at best. To expect the Republican party not to take political advantage of the situation is naive. To blame Bush, McCain, and other "minions" for the widespread reaction, smacks of cynicism. And to bring Michael J Fox and the 1st Lady into the discussion is simply grasping at straws.

Sorry, Keith, but it was immediately obvious to anyone with a brain that Kerry's remarks could be interpreted as a slam on the military. He could have done himself and the party proud by quickly admitting his gaff and apologizing to anyone who might have been offended. Instead, he resorted to false bravado and childish, paranoid name calling. The fact that it took "caning" from fellow Democrats to get Kerry to finally admit a mistake and apologize, speaks volumes about his integrity and the emotional IQ of anyone who would defend him. It's frightening that this self-important Senator almost became our President.

As for Bush, he doesn't apologize for Iraq, probably because he still believes in the war and he's doing his best to prosecute it. History will eventually either glorify or demonize Bush for what he has done, but me thinks it's still too early to tell. Not so with Kerry... we've known him for 30 years and he's now destroyed any hope for a 2nd Presidential run. The book is pretty much in on him already. He's a pathetic, aging anti-war protester who could never move on.

Take off those unseemly partisan blinders. You might understand better those whom you would defend and maybe even some of those whom you would demean."

"The context was unmistakable" Olbermann says"

Oh really? Then why was Olbermann unable to explain that to his audience on Monday night, but instead had to wait for Kerry to explain it to him the following day?
