COLUMBUS Gubernatorial candidate Ted Strickland yesterday told a radio talk show host that Americans would have a different attitude about the war in Iraq if it were not disproportionately fought by the poor.
During an interview with Tom Roten of News Talk 800 WVHU, Strickland refused to denounce Senator John Kerrys controversial dont study and you get stuck in Iraq comments. Democrat leaders and candidates across the country including Hillary Clinton have distanced themselves from Kerrys comments. Kerry has since apologized. However, Strickland suggested most Americans do not care about the young men and women fighting in Iraq.
I strongly believe that if this war was being fully shared by all segments of our society and by all income levels and so on that a lot of people may have a different attitude about whats happening and the lives being lost and the young people that are being maimed, Strickland told Roten during the on air interview.
Gubernatorial candidate Ken Blackwell expressed disappointment with Stricklands comments. Blackwells campaign demanded Strickland immediately apologize.
Playing class politics on this important issue is simply disgraceful, Blackwell spokesman Carlo LoParo said. To say Americans dont care about who is fighting and dying in Iraq is outrageous. Strickland needs to apologize for his callous and irresponsible comments.
Further, Strickland inferred his colleagues in Congress do not care about war casualties because their children are not fighting in Iraq.
Michael Moore would be proud of Ted Strickland, LoParo added. Even Hillary Clinton condemned John Kerry. Strickland just doesnt get it. He is an unabashed Washington D.C. liberal who doesnt understand Ohio values.

In addition to not condemning Kerry's comments (thus tacitly agreeing with them), this guy goes on to impugn Americans by claiming they don't care about our Armed Forces.
This guy has, if you believe the polls, a lead over Ken Blackwell. Why would he make such a STUPID statement? I wonder if the LSOM will broadcast his statements?
Middle Class White Men outnumber all other Demographic Groups in this man's Army.
another ping
Most excellent! John Kerry is 'swiftboating' his own party in races all over the country. Talk about another 'friendly fire' incident.
I'm praying that Strickland has cooked his leftist GOOSE with this...
They're still fighting the last war. Stuck in the sixties......
Ted Strickland doesn't condemn John Kerry's words (so he must agree with him that our troops are stupid!) and thinks Americans don't care about our troops!
PING!
This man CANNOT be our Governor!
Actually, Kerry's apology amounted to telling the folks that he was sorry they misunderstood him. (Translation: You're stupid. Can't you read my mind? - fuzzy as it is)
To anyone that I've PINGED:
Please let me know if you do not wish to be pinged. Sometimes, I see these stories that I think others should know about here in Ohio and now that I've finally got the hang of "pinging", I pulled your names off the Ohio board and I may be getting a little overzealous.
I don't want to be disrespectful towards any fellow Ohio Freepers so let me know.
Your tagline is funny.

(EXCERPT)
In light of John Kerry's most recent gaffe over Iraq, we have to re-examine Rep. Ted Strickland and his photo-op support of John Kerry in his failed 2004 Democratic Party presidential campaign.
Remember John Kerry's famous staged hunting picture from the 2004 presidential campaign? Kerry was photographed out in the woods, triumphantly wearing goose hunting gear and giving the photographer a "thumbs up" while obviously displaying his proud hunting trophy. The guy Kerry was photographed hunting with that day was none other than Ted Strickland, the same Ted Strickland who is now running as the 2006 Democratic Party gubernatorial candidate in Ohio.
Yet, Ted Strickland has told voters in Ohio that he doesn't own a gun. How is it, then, that we see Ted Strickland here, photographed in the field with Kerry, with the two of them decked out in full hunting regalia? Strickland is pictured shouldering a shotgun, carrying downed game the triumphant hunter wearing a broad smile on his face. Was this all just for show?

Blimey, he cut his own throat and doesn't realise it.
Regards, Ivan
Keep pinging, Sister!!
His throat is slit IF the voters find this out and it's not hidden by the LSM......
Amen!
Note to Strickland:
