Prosecutors Eye Ann Coulter Voting Probe

Conservative columnist Ann Coulter has refused to cooperate in an investigation into whether she voted in the wrong precinct, so the case will probably be turned over to prosecutors, Palm Beach County's elections chief said Wednesday.Elections Supervisor Arthur Anderson said his office has been looking into the matter for nearly nine months, and he would turn over the case to the state attorney's office by Friday.Coulter's attorney did not immediately return a call Wednesday. Nor did her publicist at her publisher, Crown Publishing.Knowingly voting in the wrong precinct is a felony punishable by up to five years in prison.Anderson's office received a complaint in February that Coulter voted in the wrong precinct during a Feb. 7 Palm Beach town council election.

>>Say, just a thought... What kind of crime would a guy have to commit to be placed in the same cell with Ann?<<

Criticizing a homosexual or some other thought-crime,
I guess .

My guess: He's just trying to do his job, Ann's and her lawyer are prepared for whatever trouble may come (and are possibly baiting them).

If they plan to prosecute her, they will be required to prove she knowingly and then willfully voted in the wrong precinct. It's probably just an honest mistake. As in the case of Rush's situation a while back, there are Democrats in FLA who make it their business to chase every Republican, no matter how insignificant the charges. They didn't put a dent in Rush and they won't with Ann Coulter either. Tempest in a teapot!

If she were a Democrat who lives in New York and votes in Palm Beach, we'd be demanding her head on a pike.

You're turning into quite the one-note charley.

Why is it you feel its your duty to set us yokel freepers right on just about every thread?

BeHoldAPaleHorse said: "Potentially exculpatory or mitigating. "

And what would motivate a person to volunteer such information unnecessarily? Does this information lose its value if withheld from the prosecution?

If reasonable people like ourselves decide that there may be exculpatory information, doesn't that indicate that the burden of proof has not been met? Why would a person suspected of a crime arm their prosecutor with such information, assuming that it exists?

Do you presume that Ann is guilty because she is silent, despite your suggestion that she might be able to provide exculpatory information to the prosecutor?

So what is Ann hiding?

What makes you think she's hiding anything?

While the DA has the right to have all communication occur in writing, Ann (and anyone else, for that matter) has the right not to give this guy the time of day.

Put yourself in that situation. You're alleged to have committed some infraction on someone else's (?) say-so. After an initial contact with the DA's office, you see that most everything you've given the DA has been leaked to the press.

How are you going to counter that? What recourse is given you? After this guy has publicly dragged you through the mud, what do you owe this guy?

NOTHING!!!!

And so it is with Ann. She owes him nothing. She owes you nothing. And if the charges are deemed to be fully prosecutable with a fair to middling chance of success, she is entitled to her day in court.

And for what it's worth, Ann is a Constitutional lawyer of some notoriety. I'll put her credentials up against yours any day, sight unseen.

CA....

Because the former is unlikely to generate civil liability, while the latter is EXTREMELY likely to generate civil liability. Toothless threats of government prosecution are meaningless, but a very real prospect of paying out millions of dollars in a civil judgment will weigh very heavily. Welcome to America the Litigious.

Because she can make this thing go away in about two hours. She's kept it alive for nine months.
