Exactly. It blames the listener for what came out of HIS mouth!

How about " I'm sorry I mispoke" if he wants to get away with a minimal apology? LOL

I agree. His non-apology made it worse, I think. Now he's saying that we're ALL stupid because WE misinterpreted his outrageous remark.
