Fly At Your Own Risk: Mishandled Threats On Planes

Airline Employees Are Concerned That Passenger Safety Is Not The First Concern

(snip)

Browne says she recently learned first-hand how some security threats are handled. On Oct. 5, she was working a flight from O'Hare International Airport to Spokane, Wash., when she learned that the airplane had been threatened with a bomb. A handwritten note had been found in one of the seat pockets.

The crew she says was told bomb-sniffing dogs cleared the aircraft before take-off. She later learned that wasn't true. Browne says it was the cleaning crew that searched for any threats.(snip)(More at link, much more)

NBC13 ^ | November 15, 2006 | Staff

Posted on 11/15/2006 9:14:14 PM PST by DaveLoneRanger

A 66-year-old Fultondale man said someone tried to rob him and an acquaintance at knifepoint, so he shot and killed the 49-year-old alleged robber at 1325 Seventh Ave.

It happened at 1325 7th Avenue, where, police said, the 49-year-old suspect threatened the homeowner and his friend.

Police said the homeowner had been robbed in the past, so when the thief ordered him to go to a closet in search of more money, the homeowner was able to grab a gun and shoot the suspect, James Greg Aldridge.

Authorities said Aldridge had a long criminal history.

No charges have been filed against the homeowner.

Goes with #778, don't miss this tidbit:

Scrub Inc. is not the only private company cleaning airplanes.

Another is called Prospect Airport Services located in Des Plaines. That company in the past hired a Des Plaines man now on trial for being an Iraqi spy. Other former employees were arrested in Detroit for having fake social security numbers.
