The issue is now the lie that Kerry told that he had intended to use the word "us" in his statement.
1. Why didn't he just release the papers showing same AT THAT TIME? (Obviously, such papers could have been produced by now.)
2. Why did he staff say that there was another whole line left out; that it was more than the word "us." The line actually mentioned President Bush and the war. (Convenient, since the inclusion of "us" doesn't really make the point. Ergo, they've re-written the speech; added lines; and I'm supposed to swallow this cover-up.)
3. This is Kerry's anti-Viet policy. He was trying to get a laugh from a Viet-era line that somehow got conjured in his memory.

Kerry isn't a flip-floppper: he hated the military thirty years ago and he still does. His "apology" is nothing but hot air.

My conservative brain says that short of catching Barak Obama with a dead girl or a live boy, this is THE coolest possible thing that could have happened for Republicans a week before the midterms.
My patriotic, military-loving heart says I'd like to spend 15 minutes alone in a room with John Kerry. He needs (and deserves) to have his ass beat by a girl.
Didn't Trent Lott have to resign as chair of one of the Senate committies because of his "botched" attempt at a joke at Strom Thurman's B-Day party? And everyone knew that was an attempt at humor. Kerry did not tell a "joke" with his comments.
He should resign in shame.
