American Legion says Kerry's comments on Imus are "not acceptable"
american legion ^ | 11-1-06 | Doug from Upland

Posted on 11/01/2006 12:41:12 PM PST by doug from upland

Here is the initial story reported on KFI in Los Angeles at 11:00 AM --- CLICK.

KFI in Los Angeles called Kerry's remarks on Imus this morning an apology when he said that he meant no offense to the troops. Someone at Reuters is trying to let Kerry off the hook.

The American Legion, however, is steaming mad.

A source at American Legion headquarters told me that the comments on Imus are not acceptable. He needed to make an apology to the troops that was unequivocal. Unfortunately, he has apparently missed the opportunity. Even if Kerry would actually try to make a real apology now, they would consider it disingenuous.

My source pointed out that the President has an advanced business degree and was allowed to be a military pilot in an F-102. "You don't put those things in the hands of dumb *sses," she said.

Unnamed source pointed out that this is not a joking matter. WE ARE AT WAR! Kerry shouldn't be joking about this stuff. Kerry is doing damage to his country just as he did in Vietnam times. He seems to do it at every opportunity to try to advance himself.

She was really proud of how the troops reacted with the banner seen on Drudge with misspellings to mock Kerry. "They are smart enough and know how to get a joke and create a joke."

Regarding Chris Matthews, the American Legion is firing off a memo to him for calling the reaction from the American Legion a Bush "dog and pony show." No, their reaction was their reaction. They don't get marching orders from the White House.

God bless those risking their lives to protect our country, and God bless those in the American Legion who are standing up tall on this issue.

I think Kerry needs to hold a press conference to clarify his remarks on Imus.

The Imus show this morning was great! I normally have trouble listening to Kerry but figured the Imus show was going to be his big apology moment but he screwed up big time!

Imus really put it to him after graciously allowing him a forum to apologize. Kerry kept yapping and Imus lost his patience and started with the "Please shut up! Please, I'm beggin' you....Please shut up! You HAVE to stop talking now!"

Kerry was still talking when Imus disconnected him. There is a clip up which only shows one of the "Please shut up! I'm beggin' you's." Imus must have said it ten times but Kerry kept on saying, "I hear what you're saying..." but then would go right on talking about, "I can't let this administration..failed Iraq policy...quagmire....yada yada." It was HILARIOUS. I was laughing out loud when I went to work this morning and been smiling all day.

John Kerry & John Murtha would never have joined a volunteer military!

Kerry's service, after repeated attempts at deferment was totally aimed as resume enhancement for his political future. ...just like his self-inflicted purple-heart wounds.

In the next sentence he will bash Bush.

You really think he will wait that long? I don't think he has the self-discipline to not do it in the very same sentence. In fact, I'll bet the apology IS a bash at President Bush!

The troops know how to tell a joke that's funny... Kerry could learn from them.

Imus: "Please stop it. Stop talking. Go home, get on the bike, go wind-surfing, anything stop it. You're going to ruin this."

Durbin's non apology apology was more of an apology then Kerry has delivered forth. Oh no the media IS NOT going to manufacture an nonexistent apology just because Kerry refuses to back down and deliver one.

They chose him to represent them. They backed him and his statements about troops terrorizing women and children and unless they boot him out of the party his warts are theirs.

Hey Hitman, just got in. Watching the non-apology Imus clip. This guy is a narcissistic bastard. If it was a mistake, he wouldn't have given three excuses and then say he wouldn't apologize. Still waiting for him to apologize to the VN vets and resign from the Armed Services Comm.. Of course, the libs all agreed with him and thought he was ballsy... rallied the moonbats.

He should tell his party how he requested a year before he went in to study in France (hence wasn't so eager to serve), our troops don't have that luxury. In hindsight, it explains his meetings with the enemy VC in France while the war was still going on... blessed by Teddy. He should tell people how many times (in the short period he was in Nam), he was transferred... they knew he was a dangerous coward and would get them killed. (In fact his misfire on the PT of a weapon gave him a splinter sized piece of steel he didn't need a medic for and those who signed on for his purple heart were from the other PT, not even his.

The rice/butt incident was throwing grenades in ground storage bins, they were turning for cover... shrapnel (rice), purple heart.

The incident when he shot the teen VC in the back... after the PT ahead and troops had ceased the firefight... purple heart. See, he had to get out and it took three. He's lucky he left when he did... he might have been fragged.

His DD214 that he finally brought forth is fake, yet still dates his release from service years after it should have been... and it wasn't honorable.

If he, as he accused other troops in VN, killed, raped, torched villages, killed livestock... etc. Why is he on the hill?

He will pay for the Snow comment, I was all set for his next venue... they're all cancelled today as you know.
I can't believe he railed on Rush when he didn't even know about it yet and wasn't on the air yet... insane.

Still, Kerry's trying to distract us. Since the lame dems have seen the trends and polling, NOW, they say he should apologize. So, that's saying Kerry was lying... is it not?
That means they know he lies.

I'm off to Rangel... as he prepares to enter his draft legislation again that no one talks about. (Remember 2004, he told all the black folks he could find Bush would draft them if he won... all the while he wrote the legislation and tried to put it through. That's low.

The Swiftboaters were pinged to action as soon as it dropped in Cali that night. Well, they can help with another certain candidate.

From Doug's posting. Apparently, Matthews is trying to push the idea that the American Legion is just another one of "BushCo's" parrots, like the Swiftees were supposed to be.

Press conferences to clarify comments and statements from previous press conferences. I see a republican commercial akin to Mastercard adds here somewhere. Just Priceless!

"It saddens me greatly to suggest this, but in the interests of the Senate, his party, and the nation, I believe John Kerry should step aside as Senator. I simply do not believe the country can today afford to have someone who has made these statements again and again be a member of the United States Senate."

Who made that statement, underlined words changed to indicate the junior Senator from the once great Commonwealth of Massachusetts?

(a) George Bush
(b) Karl Rove
(c) Tony Snow
(d) John F'n Kerry

And the really FUNNY part was JFK kept talking for at least another 90 seconds. The last 30 or so Imus kept hammering him until he couldn't take it longer and disconnected him.

There wasn't any, "Thanks for calling in Senator." I just love moments like those!
