If it works as stated, someone now owns some valuable patents.

problem is that if wee converted, it would take more real estate to grow all the soy beans required for our use than in the whoole country. at best it'll be a niche market, hence the prices will be higher anyway.

I found a bushel number by googling I don't know if it's a good number or not but it's a number.

The 1997 soybean yields on the demonstration sites were 57 bushels per acre at site 1, 40 bushels per acre at site 2, and 56 bushels per acre at site 3.

It has already grown to well more than a niche market.

Well, if you can average 50 bushels per acre and you get 5 gallons per acre I get 250 gallons per acre. A million acres and now we're 250MM gallons of fuel.

How many gallons of fuel do you get out of a barrel of oil, anyone?

The end products are 7-3-7 Fertilizer, A gas fuel, and a liquid fuel. The fuel is not made from soy bean oil but directly from processing soy beans.

well lemme see...

55 bushels per acre. even if you get 100% conversion (55 gallons per acre - which we all know we will not get), that comes out to be about three tankfuls of gas. A week and a half for most drivers. So if that is true, then to supply one single car you'd require 52weeks/year/1.4 weeks per acre = 34.6 acres per year for every car.

now if you plant a million acres, and we may agree that this is not really feasible at this time, but let's use one million acres as a hypothesis, you can power at most one million acres/34.6 acres per car = 28-29 thousand cars.

how many cars are there in the US?

Yields vary dependent upon climate and soil.

From the USDA Statistics:

1983 26.2 Bu/Ac
1994 41.4
2003 33.4
