I suddenly realize that the Dem October Surprise is to have all of us Republicans laugh ourselves into cornoaries over JFinK's self-inflicted destruction.

Barf, Ford claims that the troops don't have a plan? What a liar.

What an insult to our military.

"Harold Ford is running as a conservative, calling himself a (D) and hoping to siddle up to Harry Reid and work on immediate withdrawal from Iraq and impeach Bush.

I hope Tennessee doesn't fall for this charade"

Nailed it.

I don't think they will, by the way.

That didn't take long. I wish the Dems would continue to tell Kerry to fight this.
Please Mr. Kerry, don't apologize continue to fight. Remember, Rove payed off your speech writer to put this line in there so the Dems would lose.

Remember the right wing conspiracy is in full effect. Hillary where are you on this issue?

I wish I was a fly on the wall at the DNC. There heads must be spinning faster than Linda Blair's performance in "The Exorcist".

Just wait until Rove (aka TMB) orchestrates the demand for the Dem's leadership to follow Ford's lead and demand a public apology.

This flap is clearly causing some harm for the dems - Ford's behavior is circumstantial evidence of that.

Next time Kerry says "Bush is the one who owes the apology" W should call a press conference and say

"I realise Senator Kerry is right...I apologize to the armed forces of the United States that they have to endure the likes of John Kerry as a United States Senator."

This is great. So now Ford's Senate race is all about Kerry. Hope Ford doesn't trip and fall in his haste to run away from Senator Pompous.

I just got off the phone of Senator Carper's office.

I asked, politely and professionally, that I am compiling a Delaware Blog post on the elections and wondered if Senator Carper had a statement on John Kerry's statement about the troops.

Was put on hold for a bout two minutes. The staffer got back on and said...yada, yada...it only happened yesterday....yada, yada.....Kerry did say it was a botched joke....yada, yada. "Nobody believes it was a botched joke," I responded because go with me here, they can tell NBC this crap but this humble Blogger will not sit still for it.

But Carper's staffer was nice, he reminded me that Carper was himself a veteran. I reminded the staffer that Carper is running for re-election and while the time is short to compile a response, it seems to me that the Delaware voters want to know-what with the election a week from now-just how Carper feels about it.

Later I'll call Biden's office. The Carper staffer also asked for my Blog name. Which I gladly gave.

Fair and balanced I was and right proud of myself.

Let's now see what comes out of Virginia and Missouri. They are tight races, too for the Senate and it could tip the balance. I assume Kerry will have to be criticized in any race that is tight. Will be interesting to watch.

That CNN poll yesterday that showed Ford down 8 points has nothing to do with Ford's calling for Kerry to apologize, of course.

Ford rally at COGIC church raises IRS questions

Oct 31, 2006 04:42 PM
Church Candidates IRS

Tuesday at Harold Ford Junior Campaign Headquarters, hundreds of people picked up tickets for Wednesday's free rally featuring former President Bill Clinton and Harold Ford Junior. The rally is scheduled to be held at the Temple of Deliverance Church of God in Christ, which raised eyebrows in some political circles.

A newspaper ad announcing the rally states it is not a church-sponsored event, and a property rental fee was paid to secure the church by Harold Ford Junior for Tennessee. Still, some wondered if an obscure IRS regulation could mean trouble for the church after the rally is held. An IRS law states tax exempt "organizations are absolutely prohibited from directly or indirectly participating in, or intervening in, any political campaign on behalf of (or in opposition to) any candidate for elective public office...Violation of this prohibition may result in denial or revocation of tax-exempt status and the imposition of certain excise taxes."

(snip)

Maybe it's just me and I'm being cynical (because I don't trust Ford), but I wonder why he didn't come out right away after Kerry's press conference yesterday - - did he have to take a poll, consult DNC strategists, put together a focus group to determine what he should do before he did it??
