Yesterday, a group of African-American Democrats from Prince George's County, Maryland, endorsed Republican Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele, a fellow black, for the U.S. Senate. It might be the most important political development in the country this week. Control of the Senate appears to hinge on the results in one or two contests. There are no states in which Republicans have appeared likely to pick up a seat, although New Jersey remains a possibility. If Steele could manage an upset in the race for the seat of retiring Democratic Senator Paul Sarbanes, it could be the difference-maker. And Steele is undeniably close. The current RealClearPolitics poll average shows him trailing by 5.3 percentage points, and, in the words of University of Maryland political scientist Ron Walters, yesterday's endorsements are "going to go through the black community like a rocket. It's going to be the talk of the county, the state, maybe even the nation."

Even though in this case they are voting for an American of African descent who is a Republican, people should vote based on merit and values, not an ancestry that is closer to one candidate than the other.
You are 100% correct, but the reality is the MSM 'shades' their coverage in terms of race all the time. Steele is a great candidate first, his race is important only in that it shows the hypocrisy of the MSM, which elevates African Americans who happen to Democrats to levels they do not deserve, and yet is doing their best to ignore Mr. Steele.
On that basis, stack up Steele and Cardin, and there's no contest. Steele is a great candidate and a good man. Cardin is a hack.
Check this out. If Ehrlich is tied with O'Malley, I have to believe that Steele is winning.

The Maryland governor's race is a virtual tie less than a week before Election Day, as Gov. Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.'s relentless attacks on Mayor Martin O'Malley's record on crime and schools have eroded the Democrat's support in the Baltimore suburbs, a new poll for The Sun shows.
O'Malley, who led by 6 percentage points in The Sun's September poll, has seen his advantage drop to just 1 point, well within the survey's margin of error. Ehrlich, who has spent months trying to convince voters that O'Malley's record as mayor makes him unqualified to lead the state, appears to be consolidating the base of support that in 2002 made him Maryland's first Republican governor in a generation.
As a native of PG County, I can assure you that these endorsements are a very big deal there. This could sway the election. I hope it does!
The Man of Steele is going to win.
Sounds like the momentum in Maryland is turning big time towards the GOP, and people love to back who they think is going to win, so this is very good news for both the Governor and Mr. Steele.....
It is probably true that Michael Steele and his democratic backers is perhaps the biggest story of this election year, however, the great fishwrap Washington Post carried the news of those endorsements that came day before yesterday, in yesterday's paper. Where? Not where Macaca appeared for weeks, on the front page and the editorial page, but on page B5 under Prince Georges County news in my home edition. No pictures. Nothing.

The election fraud has already started. The primary was a debacle because the Diebold machines had not been tested properly. Many MD Repubs are voting absentee to make sure there is a paper trail. But guess what - somehow those ballots are not going out. I submitted my application 3 weeks ago and still no ballot. So the RAT controlled election boards will send them out too late for people to vote, and then they will be denied in-person voting because they were "sent" an absentee ballot. The RATS in Maryland will stoop to anything in order to win.
