Very hard to imagine how Israeli security missed the mag. Been through there security and it is the best in the world.
If it was just a mistake on her part it could be due to the fact that every young women and young man in Israel carries a gun over their shoulder, so bullets would be in everyone's tote bags and she missed it when she packed.

The best security in the world does not use blanket and intrusive searches - it profiles. If you have been exposed to the rigors of U.S. TSA security, you will be amazed upon leaving Israel to not have to:
1. Remove your shoes.
2. Turn on laptop computers.
3. Empty all your pockets.
4. Take off jewelry, belts etc.
Unless you fit the profile. There are more screening points in the tiny land of Israel than in all U.S. airports. Every store has screening for entry, and they are very good at it. The first time I "beeped" at a screening point in Jerusalem, I instinctively started emptying my pockets and turned around to go back through... the guard laughed and said in English, "Not here."
