Did John Kerry (D-Mass.) help himself in his Seattle news conference this afternoon to explain his astonishing remarks yesterday which sounded like an elitist shot at the intelligence of members of the U.S. military serving in Iraq? Short answer: no.
An angry Kerry tried to give his supporters and Democrats something to fight back with when he said: My statement yesterday, and the White House knows this full well, was a botched joke about the president and the presidents people, not about the troops.
If anyone thinks that a veteran, someone like me whos been fighting my entire career to provide for veterans to fight for their benefits, to help honor what their service is, if anybody thinks that a veteran would somehow criticize more than 140,000 troops fighting in Iraq and not the president and his people who put them there, theyre crazy. Its just wrong .
But heres the problem. In his moment of high dudgeon, he may have made matters worse. It probably wasnt a good idea to accuse everyone who saw the video of his campaign appearance and thought he was disparaging the IQ of U.S. troops of being crazy.

When Rush read what he said was Kerry's response, I honestly thought Rush was doing one of his parodies or that he was reading something from Scrappleface. I kept expecting Rush to break the facade. But he never did! Kerry's response was unbelievable picayune and small minded as well as being downright laughable.
Oh, how I wish I were a fly on the wall in Nancy Pelosi's office. I don't know if flies laugh, but I would be enjoying listening to her cancelling the new drapes for the Speaker's office. Thanks, poodle boy!
Six foot under yet?
If this is a botched joke, he should be called to task and unbotch it and restate it where it comes out that it is Bush that didn't study and Bush that didn't work hard and Bush that ended up in Iraq. (side note, I believe it was Bush that did study and got a MBA from Harvard and got higher grades than Kerry, therefore, the "not studying" or getting good grades and getting Smart would point more towards Kerry than Bush). HE IS A PATHETIC LIAR that won't account for his own comments.
BTW, is a joke an excuse for denegrating a large group of Americans. DO YOU THINK that if a Republican was "Joking" and used the N-word and later said it was a "botched joke" that it would be excused without and apology or even with an apology for that matter.
Oh I remember that one. His Hairness interrupted three or four servicemen - I forget what branch - having lunch at Wendy's and yammered at them for a few minutes. They had to sit there and take it, poor bastards. Anyone with an ounce of class would have just left them alone. Add that to the list of things money can't buy.
Talk about not learning from the past. Isn't this basically how he got his Purple Hearts, self-inflicted wounds?
I was actually a bit disappointed in Bush's rejoinder. I would have made a recruiting pitch, in which I urged intelligent people to join the military. Making the point that a college education helps a soldier, and the further point that the military will help a soldier obtain a college education (that is still true, isn't it?).I'm not even sure I'd have mentioned Kerry by name. Just set up the things Kerry has said over the years, and effortlessly knock them down for the straw men Kerry's claims are.
This bitter, nasty man has insulted our Troops and insulted all of America. HE is the biggest insult of all.
There will be a price to pay for this. May he get his behind-with-his-head-still-in-it handed to the DNC on a silver platter.
Talk about a no-win situation, Ivan. But you're right.
We should all email him not to give those right wing nut jobs an apology,,
Who will be the first to buy it?
I'm guessing it's gonna be highly nuanced.
Something along the lines of...
I'm getting giddy.
I was hoping for a defining moment in this election season from one of those douchebags of the Left, and one of the biggest ones came through in spades.
Remember the wrath the manservant caught from Kerry when the poor guy lost Kerry's hairbrush?
When you spend the kind of money Teresa does to have john properly coiffed someone damned well better bring the proper hair brush along.
If interested, sign this petition which calls for Kerry's resignation.

you guys are missing the bigger screw up. He called Republicans "DISPICABLE". yeh, that's right. If you are an American citizen, just living your daily life, paying your taxes, obeying the law, raising your kids, etc. YOU are a dispicable human being.
f' that elitist sob.
FNC just announced that all of Kerry's public appearances for tomorrow (11/1) are cancelled.
I haven't had this much fun in years.
I do think Kerry meant to bash the Pres and flubbed it. But I also think he has an attitude toward military that is well documented.
So I will enjoy his twisting slowly in the wind.
