The president's special envoy to Sudan, Andrew Natsios, briefed the president and the Secretary of State at the White House. Bush made remarks on Sudan and North Korea. He was interviewed for "regional television media," and went to Perry, GA, in the late afternoon for a campaign rally.
Laura Bush put her shoulder to the campaign wheel in Tennessee and North Carolina.
The Chinese, after negotiations with North Korea, announced that the North Koreans have agreed to return to six-party talks regarding North Korea's nuclear ambitions. This is in accordance with President Bush's strategy.
"One element of the plan is something that I strongly supported all along, and that there needs to be a credible and effective international force to go into Darfur to save lives, to make it clear that the international community respects human life, and the international community will work in concert to save human life."Tony Snow in his press briefing today, remarking on Kerry's quote: "It sort of fits a pattern. You may recall that last year Senator Kerry -- on CBS's "Face the Nation" -- accused U.S. soldiers of terrorizing kids and children in Iraq; and recently also described troop concentrations in Baghdad as "having failed miserably.
The White House also released in advance remarks Bush was to deliver later in the day while campaigning in Georgia, in which the president called Kerry's statement "insulting and shameful." Bush, like his spokesman earlier, said soldiers deserve an apology from Kerry.
"Our troops did not enlist because they did not study hard in school or do their homework," Bush said in his prepared remarks for a former GOP congressman, Mac Collins, who is trying to oust Democratic Rep. Jim Marshall. "The men and women who serve in our all-volunteer armed forces are plenty smart and are serving because they are patriots." Kerry ... angrily fired back. His statement called Republicans "assorted right-wing nut jobs." And at a hastily arranged news conference in Seattle, Kerry said: "I apologize to no one for my criticism of the president and of his broken policy."
It came during a campaign rally [in California. Kerry] ... said: "You know, education, if you make the most of it, you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. If you don't, you get stuck in Iraq."
"What Senator Kerry ought to do first is apologize to the troops. The clear implication here is if you flunk out, if you don't study hard, if you don't do your homework, if you don't make an effort to be smart and you don't do well, you "get stuck in Iraq." But an extraordinary thing has happened since September 11th, which is a lot of people -- America's finest -- have willingly agreed to volunteer their services in a mission that they know is dangerous, but is also important. And Senator Kerry not only owes an apology to those who are serving, but also to the families of those who have given their lives in this.
"This is an absolute insult."
New question, Tony's reply: "General Casey said last week, there is not a single military engagement that we have not won, and we don't give our soldiers credit for that.
About Congr. Rangel calling the Vice President an SOB, Tony replied: "in a year in which, again, on these key issues, the Democrats don't have a plan, it does appear that they have an anger management problem. But on the other hand, I asked the Vice President about it today and he had a big hearty laugh. He knows Charlie."
"This is how much chance the dems have of taking over the Senate NOW! Ha ha ha ha ha! Laugh at our fine soldiers, will you, Senator Kerry? We'll see who the smart ones are!" (Not an actual quote.)
With Special Envoy Natsios
Dose going up just as the electrician arrived to change out some electrical stuff -- I have to cut the power and reboot when he's done so the photos are going to have to wait.
Talk amongst yourselves and have fun while I'm waiting it out with the electrician!

Seriously. Did he think it was gonna help to come out and call us all right wing nut jobs? Kerry's just shoving his foot in his mouth. I didn't think he could get it that far down his throat.
Isn't it simply amazing what he can do with a twitch of his nose?
