It's so cute - he seems to have no idea that nobody is watching him.

Bush has a Masters Degree and don't both Condi and the VP have PHD's?
So how does doing poorly in school relate to them.
I think people are being way to charitable to Kerry and "What he meant to say"
Troops as losers, with low class origins, who can't find a job or are not smart enough for college is a major theme in the hard left's mythology. It has been explicitly spoken of in both Michael Moore's movie and by Bill Mahr.
It is one of those things most liberals believe but are usually careful not to say publicly.
Given Kerry's east coast liberal loathing of the masses, I think it is far more likely he let slip his true feeling than he used a poor choice of words to attack the President.

"Kerry only meant to say that Bush hadn't studied enough before he became president and thus got us into a mess in Iraq."
Wouldn't the fact that Bush graduated from Yale and got a master's degree from Harvard contradict this attempted explanation?
To: highimpact
Yes, he believes that....my point is that he probably said it as a veiled attack on Bush saying he led these people into war and did not provide a way for them to be educated etc.
Of course, Kerry is wrong. But, even he is not dumb enough to say military people are stupid without some reason.

That does not make what he said any less reprehensible. He has attacked our service men and women as somehow dumb, and that is beyond disgusting.

Kerry could have said... get an education or you'll end up on the streets of California. No one would have taken that as a slur. Except the Democrat constituent base in California who harass and trouble the residents of other California Dem voters in California.

The President also had higher SAT's and got better grades than Kerry.

"this whole thing is stupid."Care to elaborate?
To: bnelson44
"I think Kerry misspoke. I think Kerry intended to say that if aren't educated you could get the country into Iraq (or something to that effect). It was suppose to be a slam on Bush. But he misspoke and it went downhill from there. I think for Kerry it was easy for him to make the error, because I think in his heart of hearts he really believes that those in the military are dumb, but I don't think he intended to say it."No doubt he now wishes he hadn't said it. I think he meant what he said.
I also think you are a limp-wristed liberal troll.

I also think you are a limp-wristed liberal troll. Sorry, you miss the mark there. I simply try to look at things logically. I am wrong a lot of the time though. In this case, I simply think Kerry is stubborn, obnoxious, bigoted against the military, made a slip of the tong and said something he really believes but did not mean to say and now refuses to apologize for it. I think the Dems are going to be hurt by it, and I hope the Republicans make good use of the opportunity.

liberal callers to local talk radio around here say the same thing all the time. They say the other group of recruits are delinquents who get the the opportunity of going into the military rather than doing time.
