PHNOM PENH, Cambodia --An associate of Angelina Jolie has said a lawsuit may be filed on behalf of the Hollywood actress against the head of a Cambodian aid group she alleges misappropriated her donations.

"We are considering filing a lawsuit to recover the hundreds of thousands of dollars that is missing and which he was responsible for," Trevor Neilson, who is the philanthropic and political advisor for Jolie and partner Brad Pitt, told The Associated Press in New York Monday.

Think they'll figure out it isn't all America's fault?

Nah

I think she's probably beginning to.

Sorry, I meant about the Cambodia thing, not the adoption.

Jolie has set up an independent Cambodian organization to administer a conservation project for remote northwestern areas of Cambodia, the director of the new group said Monday.

Jolie terminated the contract with Cambodian Vision in Development and the U.S. conservation group WildAid, which had co-managed the project, in December, said Stephan Bognar, executive director of the Maddox Jolie Project. The new group is named for Jolie's 5-year-old son Maddox, who was adopted from Cambodia

This sounds like she put together the group, but the Cambodian side of it robbed her. And as far as PR, I never heard about this, have you? I'm sure there are many people like Jolie who donate alot of money and we never, ever hear about it.

Whatever happened to donating clothes, food, housing - what about hauling over those FEMA like trailers to house families in? Giving acutal items instead of money means less corrupt greedy people get their hands on things to steal them away. She means well, but there are better ways to help than just giving money.

Here's the deal... that broad probably has people on her 'payroll' who make big bucks looking out for her. They didn't and she got had ... twice. Once by her 'employees' and again by the 'charity' guy. It is the height of stupidity and incompetence all around and I don't feel the least bit sympathetic for just another rich Hollywierd loser with more money than brains. There's a sucker born every minute. Great ... you have money to burn... give to a charity. BUT, have the brains to assure yourself that your generosity will be well placed and properly administered or you're just throwing money away. PS, there's nothing wrong with donating to the VA, or the AMERICAN cancer society...etc. except.. I guess, there will not be much media hype over that donation.

If she had anywhere near as much brains as money

Someone who has made their millions on their body and lips probably doesn't have many brains.

There are exceptions to that rule, but I suspect that Jolie is not one of them.

So it's ok to donate to causes YOU believe are ok. She wants to help Cambodia. That's her passion. I find it incredible that ANYONE would think that's not worthy of attention.

I like Angie. To quote her "I'm paid a ridiculous amount of money for what I do". This was to explain why she gives one third of her salary to charity.

She's be better off to use her substantive money to start some business in Cambodia to help create wealth and jobs.

But being a UN type she will not think so constructively.

Right... these are the same Hollywood types who are against the WOT because they insist that more can be done at home with the expense of the war than can be done for Iraqi freedom and reconstruction. THEN, they go and VERY PUBLICLY donate to a charity for CAMBODIA, of all places, in order to buy publicity with the very donation they make out of 'humanitarian concern' and which they feel foreigners deserve more than any needy or disadvantaged Americans... duhhhh!!!! Insult to injury... I am supposed to sympathize with her having been patently duped out of her money in this perfectly obvious attempt to back into the media limelight with a concern for the poor ... elsewhere???!!! NOT!!!! (BTW - Cambodia was the country left high and dry and cut for bait once the Liberals here so thoroughly trashed the US/Viet Nam effort and forced us OUT when we were in a position to really help)

It must horrible to think the worst about someone just because they HAPPEN to be a celebrity. The fact is she did not do this PUBLICLY. The only reason we even know about this is because of this lawsuit. You don't believe people can actually care about something if you don't care about it? That's just so freaking sad. I don't think, you represent the majority of people at FreeRepublic. I certainly hope not.

I guess your snide remark was directed towards Jon Voight.

My snide remark was directed to illustrate that liberal, rich, privileged, self indulgent, entertainment types are targets of this kind of cross culture fraud rather than insulated from it, and it is entirely their fault, as they HAVE the resources to detect and prevent it. It's just political prejudice that prevent them from using those resources and judgment.

I think there's alot of naivity when you're getting involved with these countries. But it sounds like she's learning, the hard way, that there is a reason these Countries continue to keep their people poor-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- To: dfwgator It's naive to adopt a child from a poor country?

A celebrity naive about world affairs? Stunning!! You seem to condradict yourself in consecutive posts Hildy. Wassup?
