WASHINGTON (AP) -- Thousands of weapons the United States has provided Iraqi security forces cannot be accounted for, and spare parts and repair manuals are unavailable for many others, a new report to Congress says.

The report, prepared at the request of the chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Virginia Republican Sen. John Warner, also found that major challenges remain that put at risk the Defense Department's goal of strengthening Iraqi security forces by transferring all logistics operations to the defense ministry by the end of 2007.

A spokesman for Warner said the senator read the report over the weekend in preparation for a meeting Tuesday with Stuart W. Bowen Jr., the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction.

Oh puhhlease.

First we weren't equipping them fast enough, and now they are all upset with the record-keeping.

Just because you don't have the serial number written down in a book in a gov't building in a infant democracy that is fighting a war doesn't mean its "missing"...

Isn't it amazing that weapons conveniently turn up missing around the time of an election? And of course, we had something to do with it...

Well, let's see where this one goes...(ho hum)

Anyone want to bet who has them?

Most Arab states are corrupt and Iraq is no exception. I expect these losses are typical. Or, they could be where Saddam put those WMD.

Oh we have them... errr the Iraqi security forces do.

The whole story is about how we didn't record serial numbers from a bunch before getting them to the Iraqi's (remember the other week it was all about how they were ill equipped the were).

Nothing is missing, just the bureaucracy was not served... this has the libs FURIOUS.

So what? Do you remember the stupid QaaQaa ammunition depot that was launched by the New York Times in the last week before the 2004 elections? Kerry the Clown and others in the democrat party and their media barked about that story for every hour till Election Day and it got them nothing at all. This story will be no different it is a joke to think that it will have an effect on elections.
