As part of an activism class, students at Solebury School, a private school near Philadelphia, were taken to an abortion clinic, donned vests worn by abortion staff, and helped to escort women into the building.
During the field trip students were not permitted to speak to pro-life demonstrators standing outside the building.
This is very, very disturbing, said Eileen Stone, a prayer service participant. These students are only seeing one side. Shouldnt they see another perspective? After all, education is about seeing the whole picture.
The teacher organizing the trip, Jason Gordon, said the students werent permitted to speak with the pro- life demonstrators because he did not want them to become involved in activism, denying that what they were doing was already a form of activism. He admitted that the children were not given both sides of the argument.
Private school: They can do what they want. If the parents don't like it, pull them from the school.
Private school - they can do whatever they want and whatever the parents will allow.
Perhaps a Christian school will schedule a field trip to stand with the sidewalk counselors.
Exactly.

I'm curious to know whether parents signed a permission slip for this field trip. btw--annual tuition/board is $33K.
I'm originally from a Philly suburb. This is total craziness. Abort the teacher!

Not necessarily.
I wonder if a teacher could take his students on a field trip to learn more about exotic dancing?
The two of you tie of "master of the obvious." Of course a private school if free to do as it wishes. Sort of like the nudist camp for teens a couple of years back. That being said, if this story does not disgust you, I have no idea what you are doing on this website.
I don't think they would go on a field trip to a Christian church service either!!!!
I had posted a thread on this a couple weeks ago, but it's a good idea to remind people.

Of course it disgusts me, however, I'm sure it disgusts some athiest that I send my child to a Catholic school. Do you think the government should get involved?
I must have missed it because the Friday afternoon moderator moved my thread about the Golden Gate Bridge suicides movie to chat (he moves all of my threads to chat because he is a child), and then suspended me for a week when I complained about it.
Is it legal for someone under 18 to be in an "exotic" dance club? If not, then I would imagine that the teacher would find him/herself in a bit of trouble.
Are you seriesly equating sending your kid to a Catholic school with celebrating the infanticide culture?
There were 18 year olds attending my high school.
Yes. I send my child to a private school to learn a certain set of values I see as important. I don't want the government infringing on my right to do so. While I certainly think its sickening that a teacher would celebrate abortion, I think it is up to parents of those children to determine whether they want to support such actions. If my child was in that school, I'd pull them out in about 2 seconds.
Can I ask you why you are against abortion? Either you believe it is murder, or you do not. If you do, it is never excusable or acceptable.
The government is, and has been involved, by our tax dollars. Our government can establish and support murder and teach our children that pro-choice good, except when it is pro-life. The only people that should have been aborted, are those that believe in abortion.Of course we could never know that because they would be pro-dead.
