A list of the safest and most dangerous cities overall, as compiled by Morgan Quitno Press, which bases the rankings on FBI figures released in June. The list starts with the safest cities and ends with the most dangerous.
Only cities that reported crime rates were included in the list. For example, New Orleans was not included this year because its police department did not report figures.

I was killing some time and this cop was putting
a ticket on the car...I said.."Give a Sr. Citizen
a break?" He kept writing a ticket, I told him he
is disgrace to the uniform, he wrote another ticket for
bald tires, I called him a nasty name..He wrote another
ticket....The car had a sign on it..Hillary- '08. I
caught the next bus home...not my car..not my tickets-
Sometimes us Sr. Citizens do crazy things?? Jake

St Louis was certainly dangerous to Padres, Metropolitans, and Tigers this year.

At least you didn't try to put a coin in the meter. You can get in trouble for that.

I watched a meter maid going down a line of cars, looking for an expired meter. When she got to the end of the line, where there was a car parked illegally in a space without a meter, she walked on.
There was no meter number to reference for the ticket.

See
Florida 'Stand Your Ground' Law Explained. Sometimes referred to as the Castle Doctrine, it's a law removing the "retreat and run away" requirements when faced with an assailant, hence the "stand your ground" moniker.

Also ranked Los Angeles, CA "safer" than Knoxville, TN. . . . . not likely.

Harold Ford Jr's district has been an ever increasing war zone (in Memphis) ... I got a crash course in Memphis politics and race relations this last week. It's ugly up there.

What is "Stand your Ground"? It means that there is no "duty to retreat" before employing lethal force to defend your property.

Very good. I hate that common sense (e.g., fighting back at a crook) isn't allowed in most of our jurisdictions in this country.

Parma, Ohio was one.
Akron scored best of the larger, non-suburb cities in Ohio at #290.

Wasn't that stupid?
I couldn't believe how much garbage we have worrying about petty problems and traffic BS (seatbelts, anyone?) but heavens the cops should have to track down a real criminal!

Exactly. Take a black person raised with proper values and in a halfway decent neighborhood, and take a white kid who grew up with a single mother on welfare in Compton. Compare.

And most of the nonblue ones are still blue enclaves within Red states, with the possible exception of Cincinnati. But even in Cincy, the city proper is fairly blue even though suburban Hamilton County is DEEP red.
BTW you forgot to mark Compton blue.

Same is true of Cincinnati and even Cleveland. Cleveland proper, plus a couple old inner east-side suburbs (E. Cleveland, Euclid) are pretty rough, but the majority of the metro is quite safe.
