On Monday President Bush flies into Houston to campaign for a congressional candidate who at one point looked like a long shot.
But an exclusive poll indicates that Shelley Sekula-Gibbs may pull off a political upset and win her write-in campaign for Congress.

I think she'll win, but we'll still lose the house.
Dems are going to pick up about 18 seats. There's a chance to hold, but not likely.

This is encouraging news! I live in this Texas district (TX 22) formerly represented by Tom DeLay.
We're bringing two dozen conservatives with us to the polls on Nov. 7th in a van pool. They are all hopping mad that a corrupt, partisan D.A. from Austin forced a good man out of office, and everybody knows exactly how to write in Shelley Sekula Gibbs for the U.S. House race!
I promise we will do our part to keep a liberal Democrat from stealing Tom DeLay's seat in the U.S. House.

A republican with the name Joe Smith should have ran an easier name to right.

If her daughter marries Mr. Jones-Smith, that last name could get really ugly in a hurry! Maybe, just maybe, that is why our ancestors made the female take the male's last name?
To: Brimack34
Her name is brutal. You're correct, she'd win if her name was Jane Smith! or Jones for that matter. :)

If she wins, Rats could pick up no more than 15 seats.

Do you think at all about what you type before you type it? At all?

How do Texans vote in a write-in candidate? Is it so difficult? How about absentees? Thanks in advance.

Ahem...
What would it tell you about the 'conventional wisdom' about how election night is supposed to go if she DID win?

I cant believe it how negative some freepers are. The dems will be lucky if they get 5 seats in the house and 2 in the senate. Not only will we win and will keep both the House and the Senate. But the democrats will be the minority partey for years if not generations to come

Thank you! You need to hang around more and help us fight off these negative fools. It's ridiculous! They have no frame of reference, yet predict doom and gloom like it's a given!

"Her name is brutal. You're correct, she'd win if her name was Jane Smith!" Keep in mind that it's not necessary for all three names to be entered and spelled correctly for the write-in vote to count in TX 22. I know that a select set of partial entries is authorized to be acceptable, but I don't know exactly what they are. Other variations will be reviewed by a panel of county reps and if the intent of the voter is clear the vote will be counted.

Sekula Gibbs is going to win and unlike the Demonics we Republicans do believe in Miracles . The first ones on wed. Nov. 8 to confirm Miracles will be the Demonics. They and the Media have thrown the kitchen sink , bathtub and the whole house on top of the Republicans for 1 year straight. They have given the Dems 1 Trillion of free negative commercials against President Bush and the Republicans. On Nov.8 the Republican Party should start asking the Psychiatrist accross the Country for a commission for all the DEPRESSED Demonics coming to see them

Yes, I do. I think quite a bit actually. I've analyzed each contested race thoroughly. I've reviewed several polls for each and weighed them against their historical accuracy.
The reason I say we have a chance is our superior ground game, which is difficult to quantify; however it could offset the Dems lead some races, but it's a long-shot.
Let's talk again on election night and we'll see who is more thoughtful.

It sure would be nice to keep that hack Nick Lampson out of the house of representatives.

Yes, lets do that. You say we have a chance at what? Losing 18 house seats? And that's WITH our 'superior ground game'. Only in a DUer's wet dream. I frankly don't believe you that you've analyzed anything and come up with those numbers.

"I cant believe it how negative some freepers are."
I'm not being negative. I'm attempting to accurately predict what will happen on election night.
I actually have a VERY positive long term outlook. I think with the Dems running the house American will be reminded of just who they are and in what they believe. This will help Repubs to win back the house, grow the lead in the Senate and maintain the presidency in 2008.
I am not a gloom and doomer; however when I sit back and examine the facts, I see the Dems picking up 16-18 seats in the House. (Senate will be 51-47-2, Repubs in control).
