Democrats fear the storm could leave them high and dry From Tom Baldwin in Washington
Party is worried that the precdicted hurricane will just fizzle out
PUNDITS predict that the Republicans will be swept from power on Capitol Hill on November 7 by an elemental force of voter anger aimed at President Bush and Congress. Some are forecasting a Democrat tsunami, while Charlie Cook, the pre-eminent American election guru, talks of a Category 5 hurricane.
But Democrats have learnt from bitter experience that breaching the Republican defences even with an opinion poll yesterday showing them with a 14 per cent lead nationally is harder than it looks. The more fatalistic among them point out that in the year since the Katrina disaster the US has received many warnings about other hurricanes heading towards it. All of these, without exception, have fizzled out into nothing more severe than storms. . . .

There fixed it
It is time for the pundits and pollsters to return to reality. They have been spending the last year doing everything possible to create a Democrat victory. But now it is time to make the final predictions that they will be judged on after the election is over.
It is all well and good to pretend the Democrats are going to win in September, when nobody will remember what you said. But when your reputation is on the line, you have to be right.
heh heh
Yep.
Especially those from another country.
They need to return to....who cares.
I love it when the Dems whine about being "outspent" by Republicans. I guess the multi-billion dollar advantage that they enjoy from the biased press and entertainers doesn't count, eh?
I just saw something on dailykos (don't ask) where they pointed out that the DNC get out the vote is different for 4 different Democrat orgs - not coordinated.
This makes sense and is further muddled by the despondency most inner city Democrats (blacks) feel about how their vote won't matter anyway due to the ongoing BS around disenfranchisement.
Personally, I like watching Dems lose.
resurrection from the grave and election fraud law suits will be for most on their minds.
Those who believe their own propaganda are doomed to failure.
Some of the British reporters in America do a really good job, but this sounds like the kind of guy who hangs out with the American press in Georgetown bars and sends back reports of what they are saying.
Needless to say, 99% of the reporters who hang out in Georgetown bars are Democrat shills.
Diane: Yep, Sue, whats going on out there?
Sue: Wind.
Diane/Miguel: Wow!
Miguel: Sue, just to clarify, are we dealing with a gusty type of wind or a constant wind?
Sue: Well Miguel, there is a gusty wind and yet it is also constant. I guess you could say its kind of a gustiness that remains constant.
Diane: Sue, is this the kind of wind that will blow things over?
Sue: Well Diane, nothing has blown over yet. But history has shown us that wind is dangerous. It can blow, and things will move.
Diane: Sue, Im sure the viewers at home are wondering just what Im wondering right now... could these high winds blow the killer bees directly into our backyards?
Sue: Yes Dianne, it is possible. This is exactly the type of climate they thrive on.
Diane: Ok, ok, do we have...yeah ok, Sue?
Sue: Diane?
Diane: Sue, whats going on out there?
Sue: (squatting on the sidewalk, pointing at a candy wrapper) Diane, this wrapper was not here just a moment ago. Apparently it must have blown here.
Diane: Oh my god.
Voiceover: Windstorm 97!
Miguel: You know Sue, maybe you should get out of there.
Diane: But first Sue let me throw a question at you. Sue, could the wind blow the killer bees out of our garages and into our bathrooms where they could lay eggs in our ears and eventually burrow into our brains?
Sue: Im sorry Im.....breaking.....
Dianne: Ok...
Miguel: You know what? I...
Dianne: Have we...have we lost her?
Wasn't it Barron's magazine who said the Republicans would maintain control of both houses of the legislature because they had the most money to spend?
If that poll was anywhere close to accurate, Democrats should be on pace to gain 60 seats. Reality is they will be lucky to get a majority.
Yes. It was based on money in hand.
I will take ANY REASON for GOP control! :-)
The "Vote or Die" stoners usually don't actually vote.
The MSM will really look like ideological dolts (yet again) if the Dems don't win the House.
I this some sort of British humor?
Or maybe humour?
