That's why I never talk about the party, only the original ideals. Many in the party are simply 60s hippies who managed to discover the money-making benefits of capitalism.

Actually few in the party are 60s hippies. To have been a hippie in the 60s one would have had to be 19 in 1969 which means one would have been born in 1950 at the latest. These hippies would be 56 at the youngest by now. The vast majority of Libertarian Party members are under 40. Very few are older than 55.

I'm not a party member...just a small "L" libertarian like Uncle Milton.

Heh. I'm 54. Agree pretty much with your assessment.

I may have mistaken a small sampling for a broader trend. In my area, at least according to the local Libertarian web sites, the members all have long grey pony tails and wear tie-dye t-shirts.
