Ready to be dads, but they're going to need help

Ready to be dads, but they're going to need help For a baby of their own, David and Chad will have to draw on science, the law, their families -- and most of all, each other.

CHAD HODGE LIKED #694. She was a 21-year-old college student, 5-feet-5, 135 pounds, with straight brown hair, blue eyes and a narrow nose. She had won 16 awards in high school for academics and music, and scored a 1210 on the SAT. She was outgoing, intelligent, responsible and friendly, or at least she said she was.

Chad wanted her to be the mother of his children.

But David Craig, Chad's partner of seven years, had his heart set on #685. She was a teacher, 23, 5-feet-2, with wavy blond hair and light blue eyes. She wore a size 0. She had been a varsity tennis player in high school, a ballerina and a classical pianist.

For two hours on that day in early 2004, Chad and David sat in a small office at Genetics & IVF Institute, a fertility clinic in northern Virginia, and sifted through the dossiers of prospective egg donors. It felt more like catalog shopping than human reproduction.

The previous fall, they had decided to have a child through a gestational surrogacy arrangement. They would pay one woman to provide her eggs and then, after fertilizing them in vitro with their sperm, pay another woman to carry the resulting embryos to term.

It was a quest that would take them to the frontiers of medicine, bioethics, technology and the law, as well as to the front lines of the culture wars.

Thirty years ago, the world looked to the US as a nation going to the moon and producing more food than the rest of the world.

Today, American socialism has created a society known more throughout the world for a porn VHS industry and homosexuals advancing science, so they can do it their way.

IMHO, the third world must look at us, musing how foolish America has become.

Different topic, different thread.

Muslims hate everyone who is not muslim, because that is what they are taught.

Has nothing to do with the price of tea in China or anything else.

And stuff like this or our choice of president (Clinton) is never used as propaganda or anything.

Dude, we're way ahead of the curve! According to Zanger and Evans, this wasn't supposed to happen until 2525.

In 100 years we'll be able to look through a catalog of perfect model humans and just point to one and say "I want that one". And that's who will be "born".

"Culture wars".I guess that's the new term for morality and basic decency.

IMHO, anybody who supports Islam, is provoking a future attack on this type of America and all associated with America.

Islam is a very judgmental and vengeful religion which encoursges its proponents to wage war against moral degeneration soulishly, void of a living spirit, seeking to make peace with God.

Since no man has anything righteous to offer God other than faith in Him by His methods, Islam will only succeed in becoming very religiously legalistic.

Since so many Muslim immigrants have enterd the west, I wonder how this is going to play out. Muslims witness moral degeneration in 'infidels', will they attack the homosexuals or focus more on believing Christians categorizing them as in the same society as the degenerate western community?

I don't see the current fad of homosexuals "having kids" as being a long term trend. With some notable exceptions homosexuals aren't exactly known for the ability to make a long term commitment or putting other's wants and needs first and that is what having kids is all about. IMO much of their current mania for having children is a result of wanting to make a political statement in regards to homosexuality being "normal" or "worthy of the sanctity of marriage."

I just have the strong suspicion that eventually the trendiness of it will run out for homosexuals once the reality of the hard work and dedication it takes to raise kids really hits home hard. You can't flit all over the world on cruises and spend $1000 on drapes with kids.

I just honestly believe kids and the gay lifestyle don't mix and for more than just the obvious reason. Time will tell.

Well, maybe I should be more accurate in what I write.

Isn't it great that the muslims can point to things like this to justify their hatred for us. Isn't it great that they can use things like this for propagandize and evangelize the hatred?

How's that?
