A month or so ago I would have said that Neal Gabler and I inhabit different planets, but his apparent home of has recently been demoted from planetary status. While I'm off searching for another metaphor, let me pass along the latest comment from the decidedly liberal denizen of Fox News Watch that made me reflect on just how distinct a world view we have. In the course of discussing on this evening's show the controversy that erupted this past week over Rush Limbaugh's comments about Michael Fox, Gabler had this to say:
"The media has tread lightly on Rush and his criticism of [Michael J.] Fox. To my mind, Rush is a cancer to America and hatemongers are marginalized, and why the media does not marginalize Rush, I don't know."
I strongly disagree with Gabler when it comes to his characterization of Rush, whom I consider a great American voice. We'll grant that Neal's entitled to his opinion. But he certainly is not entitled to his facts. To claim that the media has "tread lightly" in criticizing Rush's criticism of Fox is, simply, to be detached from reality.
Look no further than NewBusters for proof:
If there was one man in America whom the MSM vilified this past week, it was Rush. Why would Gabler compromise his reputation by suggesting the contrary?

LOLOLOLOLOLOL. he might be from boston you know.
What's a Gabler? Anything like a gobbler?
Fox News Watch is not watchable.
Because M.J. Fox is an admitted liar, and the media knows it. It is all there in black and white. People aren't falling for the "victim" crap anymore. One trembling Canadian isn't enough to justify the harvesting of human life.
I don't think neal has a reputation to protect.
I listened to Rush the first day he talked about the Michael J. Fox commercial. Yeah, he said he said he's acting, but he apologized within 10 minutes. He went on to say what a horrible illness Michael J. Fox has, but it had been explained to him that sometimes Fox went without meds to show the effects of the illness.
Neil Gabler is just a mean-spirited, angry lefty.
just another ultra liberal asshole.
neal said there were only 10 million.
I too heard that part of Rush's show. He was very clear on what he said.
Just like the lefties took "those 16 words" from W out of context, they
are doing the same thing here.
Trent Lott comes to mind also.
Uh, hello, Gabler???...knock - knock...are you there? The media doesn't marginalize Limbaugh?
Neal's more of a moonbat than I thought, if he believes that.
Sat here in CT listening to the show and was hit- bang- by Neal Gabler-. Then I started to watch who the sponsors were so I only have two Pearl Vision and some hustler for kitchen wear-www.Bigmouthoffer.com. I am serioius about the last one it is to buy a big juicer! Not kidding.
Jane Hall was also wrong. Jane in her surly way said that Rush only has 10 million people. Now we all know that it is 20 million.
Mojo husband who never says much about politics finally said "What the hell fire ---Gabler", and left to watch UTvTT.
I believe Jane Hall teaches at American University.
Gabler does ruin the show and that is why I tried to get the companies who advertise during the show. Only got two Pearl vision and www.bigmouthoffer.com. I need to look at the show next week to get advertisers to complain.
I think Gabler is on to something. He knows that cnn and msnbc attacking Rush will only aggravate conservatives, and boost turnout.
He's scared and he should be.
