It does not seem odd to me it was very similar to what I suggested as well using last year's as a basis but also getting bits from previous ones.

didn't mean to imply your suggestion sounded odd; I hadn't read yours when I posted my reply.

I meant "odd" in the sense of "unusual, out of the ordinary way" things hav been done. Couldn't think of a good word for it at the time.
