Why couldn't they instead build a separate non-denominational chapel? The existing chapel (judging by the photo in post #34) is clearly laid out like a Christian church. Removing the cross only takes the most visible Christian symbol out, and doesn't change the basic nature of the chapel.

This is stupid. They should leave the Christian chapel as-is, and build another one that is devoid of symbols if they want one like that. Besides, I was raised Protestant, and I'd have a hard time worshiping in a chapel that didn't have a cross in it.

The chapel is set up with a typically Christian format because it was a part of the Colonial Williamsburg restoration. The design is similar to how the space would have looked in 1732.
