Memo to Dawkins:

1. The Universe is a Box. Science can tell us a lot about what's in the box, and even what the box is made of. Science can not look outside the Universe to see where the box came from.

2. Re-read Arthur Allen Leff. You can attemp to dervie a morality not based on God, but such attempts will fail.

It actually might be worse than that. See this essay. And while this article credits evolution for human moral hardcoding, it points out that there is more to morality than cold rational logic.

Yeah, that explains why classical Confucian Chinese society was such a hotbed of theft, rape, and murder.

Oh, wait a minute....

I feel for so called educated person such as Dawkins. But they have always been around to make the case aganist God. I can not imagine being a person who does that. He is to be pitied and prayed for something he would rage aganist but it makes me a better person to do so.....He is saying nothing that has not been said since the beginning of time with the serpent in the garden of Eden. He is just a modern day serpent.

The Universe is a Box.

I think the term "universe" itself is an expression of faith. It's a philosphical term meaning "everything we can ever know." It's one notch beyond science but can't be proven itself.

"Universe", like "environment," is sort of an athropomorphism of a collection of facts, with the perspective (and hence the thing's personality) chosen and imposed by the individual.
