Time to get rid of the far right conservative malcontents.

LOL. Surely you jest. Without us, there wouldn't even be a Republican Party.

Why should we vote for liberals who simply has the "R" next to their name?

The embarassments are the conservatives Delay, Abramoff, Ney, Foley, Duke Cunningham.

Abramoff is not an elected official.

Foley and Cunningham are no longer in office so it's moot to debate their record. And they weren't even conservative to begin with. Foley used to be a Dim. Ney will be gone too.

DeLay got railroaded by a partisan prosecutor.

This article ignores the fact that Democrats are MUCH more partisan and vengeful toward their own moderates. Look what they did to Lieberman...

So...does this mean that all that talk about a Republican Big Tent was all nonsense?

When the conservatives sing in unison "time to get rid of rinos" well then the big tent is nonsense. A big tent can not, and must not include people who want to throw a large number of people in the tent off the island.

My understanding is that the RNC supported Chafee in the primary, over the challenger, but I may be wrong. I just seem to recall something about this in the news and getting really uptight at that time.

You are correct.

Rhode Island Senator Battles for Seat

"Laffey has no chance of winning a general election. The only thing he can do is disrupt this race and try to pull off an upset in the Republican primary. We'd be giving away the seat to a liberal Democrat (if we supported Laffey)," Nick of the RNSC said. "We'd much rather work for a Republican."

Sure it can. It wouldn't be as big after that, but it might still be relatively large.

Besides, the goal is actually not to kick out a large number of people. The goal is to kick out a few of the worst people, with the idea that many who are at present unacceptably bad will change their ways.

Judging from some of the posts around here there are plenty of Republicans that would buy the blade for them.

In war, suppose that someone is trying to cross over enemy lines for the purpose of arranging an undesired surrender of him and his fellow troops. Would it be improper for that person's fellow troops to shoot him in the back if they knew what he was up to?

Jim Kolbe in Arizona is the perfect example of a "moderate" Republican. If you ever listened to him explain his philosophy, you could translate it "I'll say and do whatever it takes to get the most votes." Or, "I have no principles." Or, "The Republican plank is irrelevant to me."
