George Allen: You Have Not Earned the Right to Question Jim Webb’s Recollections of War – So Just Shut Up...

The last I heard, Allen was not questioning any of Webb's recollections of war. He was just pointing out quotations in his books.

Why isn't that permissible?

If you were a Democrat, it would be permissible to say anything about a Republican whether it was true or false. However, if you are a Republican, you must not (according to Democrat pundits and the MSM) THINK, much less SAY anything, that reflects badly on a Democrat. Democrats are not held to the same high standards as Republicans. Notice when a Republican is accused of wrongdoing, even before it's been proved he's guilty, he's forced to resign or be subjected to some of the worst smear tactics the Democrats can mount!

Because Allen is a republican. As near as I can figure this is the only reason.
