All the fake moral outrage over this Webb passage is utterly nauseating.

I am offended by your fake offense, mainly because I, too am an artist of sorts, a writer of sorts-- and I don't like the idea of the fricking republican morality police telling me what can and cannot be mentioned in a novel.

My reading of the complete passage tells me without question, that this was a benign passage added to color the story-- to give the passage a deeper sense of realism, an insight into the culture.

You do not have to condone what you read, but you DO have to acknowledge that a lot of creepy, freaky stuff happens in this world-- and when you're in someone else's country, the rules are different.

You are offended that I'm offended that a man running for the Senate thinks that pedophilia incest isn't really sex? He said this today on the radio.

Get bent.

Oh, and btw, I wouldn't read your other posts if you paid me money. But thanks for the link -- now I know who and what to avoid.

Nobody is telling you what you can or can not include in your novels. However, if you run for office, your artistic sensibilities will be open to scrutiny. You are free to write about incest or other cultural phenomena. The voters have every right to consider you writing when deciding if you have earned their vote. In this country an artist such as Mr. you may run for office. In many Muslim countries you would be jailed or worse (Thank you Republicans!)
