Active Duty Troops Send Messages to Congress Opposing War in Iraq

Oct. 27, 2006 — They are not pacifists. They don't represent a political party and you won't see them in an anti-war rally. Most say they are proud Americans. They are proud to serve and wear the uniform of the United States military. But they are against the war in Iraq, and they are speaking out about it.

Lots and lots of defensive blather about how they have the right to speak out but very little on how many actually hold that position. Is it 75%, 50%, 10%, 0.0001%? That does make a difference.

The article is wrapped up in flowery language. Flower-child language.

Cut-and-Run bowers of flowers.

O.k. They've expressed their opinions.

Now back to the real world... of the soldiers who are defending the rights of every living human wishing to be free, who support the WOT and liberty in the mid-east and world.

"So what, maybe 1% of the troops over there support this? Big f'in deal."

Yeah, but probably 90% of the troops that the media will show, giving the impression that this dissent is widespread.

Seriously, punish these punks under UCMJ.

I suspect some of this is going to be based on twisting what soldiers have to say.

Given a choice of being home in Texas, or on a pristine beach in Florida, or driving through New Hampshire on a crisp October morning, or being in a hellhole filled with ingrates like Iraq, I suggest the soldiers would choose to be at home. Furthermore, I suggest most people, if polled in that way, would say the same.

This is not the same as saying that people don't recognise there is a duty to perform, and aren't willing to perform that duty.

Regards, Ivan

Could you imagine if anyone pulled this kind of stunt in WWII? They would have ended up getting the Private Slovik treatment.

No, this is a leftwing attempt by these soldiers and their allies in the MSM to undermine the war effort. They need to be drummed out harshly from the military and ABC needs to get kicked in the teeth for supporting this crap.

There wasn't a day in Vietnam, that i didn't want to be home. Every Marine, Airman, Sailor, and Soldier wants to be home.
My son is LCDR in the Navy, he sent one of his sailors home because she took on the ship. She didn't like the Sea duty.

pffffffft

They plan on presenting their "messages" to Congress on Martin Luther King day next YEAR!!

Let's see...why what that long? I think Congress knows already.

Why wait ----maybe for a DEM Congress??? Methinks that is one reason.

Martin Luther King Day???? Why not on a military holiday??..they seem to say how PROUD they are of the military...and their uniforms....

There is just SO MUCH WRONG HERE....it makes me want to cry.

These "protesters" are like John Kerry and his group of "veterans" back in the early '70's. They are amoral opportunists with political ambitions who hope, like Kerry, to take advantage of dissatisfaction with the war. Swine of this genre are already running in some races. Unionists called them "Copperheads" in the 1860's for good reason, they are snakes.

The soldiers I talk to are saying "Support the troops...Nuke Fallujah". They want to stay and finish the job, but they want to take the damned gloves off already.

From what I understand...these messages are being written by the soldiers themselves...not just reported.
