Because They Hate: A Survivor of Islamic Terror Warns America by Brigitte Gabrielle
Brigitte Gabriel lost her childhood to militant Islam. In 1975 she was 10 years old and living in Southern Lebanon when militant Muslims from throughout the Middle East poured into her country and declared jihad against the Lebanese Christians. At that time, Lebanon was the only Christian-influenced country in the Middle East and the Lebanese Civil War was the first front in what has become the worldwide jihad of fundamentalist Islam against non-Muslim people.
For 7 years, Brigitte and her parents lived in an underground bomb shelter. They had no running water or electricity and very little food. This book is a wake-up call to America and the West and this vanity takes direct sections of the book for this post.
At the end of this post are direct suggestions we as Americans can and should take.

The Muslims have an extremely high birth rate. Muslim men marry many wives which is a cultural dynamic that increases the population. For example: Osama bin Laden is one of 53 children. He has 27 children. He and his father have sired 80 children. OBL has 52 brothers and sisters.
The Islamic community throughout the world is out-reproducing Christians and Jews almost 7 to 1. It will be a matter of a few generations before they can get voting power to challenge state laws and change the Constitution of the United States. Islam is the fastest growing religion in Europe. The number of Muslims in Europe has tripled in the last 30 years. Most demographers forecast a similar or even higher rate of growth in the coming decades. The fastest growing Muslim populations are in Europe and the US.
There are 6 million Muslims in America today out of our total US population of 300 million, yet their presence has been seen and felt throughout every state in America. They are placing demands on American corporations to provide prayer time for Islamic employees on the job. There are many examples of this and just two examples are: Dell Computers caved to the pressure put forth by CAIR and now allows its Muslim employees prayer time on the job. Michael Graham was fired from ABC radio for linking Islam to terrorism.
There is no free media within the Muslim culture because the masses are taught to react violently toward anyone who questions or criticizes Allah, Muhammad, or his teachings. Muslims are taught to lie and deceive if it's for the good of Islam.
Muslims in the Arab world have a saying: "First comes Saturday, then comes Sunday." This means they'll get the Jews first (who observe Sabbath on Saturday) and then they'll get the Christians (whose Sabbath is Sunday).
The illiteracy rate in the Arab world is among the highest in any developed country. The illiteracy rate in the Arab world is 3 times higher than in Latin America and the Caribbean and the illiteracy rate is increasing. (No wonder, since they don't let their women attend school). 1/3 of Arab men and 1/2 of Arab women were illiterate in 2002. The scientific research and technological development produced by all of the Arab countries combined is less than 1% of the world total. In the Arab world, approximately 330 books are translated into Arabic each year. By contrast, each year Greece translates over 3,000 books into Greek and Spain translates approximately 100,000 books into Spanish.
In 1998, only 3 technology patents were granted in the entire Arab world. The Republic of Korea alone received 779 technology patents in the same time period. Between 1980-2000 the combined patents created in the Arab world totaled 370. South Korea alone created more than 16,000 patents in the same time period.
While the Western world focuses on space exploration, developing scientific cures for diseases and rescuing tsunami and earthquake victims and creating beautiful art, Arab Muslims are creating museums such as the Palestinian Museum at al-Najah University in Nablus that displays pictures of savagely mutilated bodies and heads floating in a pool of blood.
Arab rulers know how to control their people -- keep them ignorant (think about why the Democrats don't want to fix our clearly broken public school system). Another method these regimes use to stay in power is to create a sideshow to distract the population from problems at home. That's why the Arab world has done nothing to help the Palestinian refugees they created when they attacked Israel in 1948. It's called the "Palestinian refugee problem" and is one of the best tricks that the Arabs have played on the world.
In Arab culture, women are the property of the men - either their father, husband or brother. A married woman cannot leave home without the permission of a male member of her family. Women are savagely butchered in the Middle East every year for relatively minor offenses. Human rights organization can't even come close to counting the number of murders because of the close guarding of "shame" by families. If a young girl is raped, she has to die to protect the family's reputation and honor.
Fatah arranges for Muslim women to be seduced outside of marriage or arranges their rapes and subsequently pressures them into rehabilitating their social status by becoming martyrs and suicide bombers.
The literal translation of Islam in Arabic is "submission". The Koran says that those who do not submit to Islam should be killed.
The website www.memritv.org downloads and translates the hate sermons being preached in the Middle East. The Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) provides translations of Arabic, Farsi and Hebrew media.
Siraj Wahaj became the first Muslim to deliver a daily prayer before the US House of Representatives. He told a Muslim New Jersey audience "If only Muslims were more clever politically, they could take over the United States and replace its constitutional government with a caliphate. If we were united and strong, we'd elect our own emir (leader) and give alliance to him. Take my word, if 6-8 million Muslims unite in America, the country will come to us." This is the same man who in 1995 served as a character witness at the WTC bombing trial for Sheikh Omar Abdul Rahman. He is listed as one of the unindicted persons and co-conspirators in the 1993 WTC bombing trial. He has received the American Muslim community's highest award.
Former deputy homeland security secretary Admiral James Loy testified before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence that recent information showed that al Qaeda has calculated plans to infiltrate the southwest border of the US. The Latino street gang, MS-13, is being recruited by Al Qaeda to help. The gang is based in Mexico and Los Angeles and is helping the terrorist group penetrate our borders. There are more than 3,000 MS-13 gang members in Washington, DC alone.
If we think the Muslims can't gain political influence in this country, consider what they've done in other countries:
Lebanon:
Although Lebanese Christians practiced Arabic culture because it was the environment in which they lived, they never considered themselves Arabs. They held onto their Christian heritage and practiced Western culture and theirs was the only country in the Middle East where Christian holidays such as Christmas and Easter were celebrated in the ways they are in America and Europe.
In the 1970's, the president of Lebanon was a Christian, the prime minister was a Sunni Muslim and the speaker of the Parliament was a Shiite Muslim. The government reflected the multi-culture of the country. As we watch Lebanon today, it is hard to imagine that in the 1970's, Beirut was the world banking capital and that Arab and Western cultures mixed comfortably. Lebanese women wore the latest fashions from Milan and Paris and celebrities like Cary Grant, Sophia Loren, and Frank Sinatra were frequent visitors.
Christians and Muslims in Lebanon enjoyed the highest standard of living in the Arab world, all without benefit of the oil resources pumping petrodollars into other Arab countries. All this came to an end as their open-border policy unwittingly allowed what would turn out to be their enemy to infiltrate their society to plot and fight with radicals within to gain control of their government.
Jordan experienced great waves of Palestinian refugees in 1948-49 and 1967. The PLO set up a corrupt, terrorist mini-state and used Jordan as a base to conduct terrorist operations against Israel. In September 1970, King Hussein of Jordan grew weary of the PLO agitating and destabilizing his country. He ordered the military to expel the PLO from Jordan and thousands of PLO gunmen and civilians were killed in the process. (As an aside, communists and leftist parties supported the PLO because the PLO was a client of the Soviet Union.)
This had a devastating impact on Lebanon. Lebanon was the only one of 22 Arab countries willing to open their borders to a third wave of Palestinian refugees. This made Muslims the majority in Lebanon and they demanded a reformed government as a result. This is exactly what al Qaeda and radical Islamists are exploiting in America today in the African-American community, which is the largest community converting to Islam. They are using the race issue to attract converts and increase the Muslim population within the US.
A favorite tactic of the Palestinians was to launch cannons or rocket launchers from Christian villages into Israel and then withdraw, knowing that Israel's return fire would fall on innocent Christian civilians. The Muslims have been employing this tactic ever since.
The Muslims began slaughtering Christians in Lebanon. They would enter bomb shelters and tie a mother, father, and children together by the legs and pull until their bodies literally were split apart. They urinated and defecated on the altars of churches and used the Bible as toilet paper. They pulled Christians out of cars as they traveled to work and church and shot them. Ultimately the Muslims hung American Lt. Col. William Higgins after kidnapping him from his UN post.
The Israelis were aware of the nature of the threat facing Christian Lebanese and were willing to help for both moral and strategic reasons. The Israelis offered to equip and train the Christian men so they could defend themselves. They provided food and humanitarian assistance and used their ambulances to take injured Christians into Israeli hospitals for surgery after attacks by the Muslims.
Today, Lebanon is largely controlled by the radical extremists.
Sudan:
In 1983, shortly after the US fled from Beirut, the Arab Muslim government in Khartoum, Sudan began a jihad to impose Islam on black African Christians and animists in the southern part of the country. The southerners' resistance to the imposition of Islam led to civil war, which the Khartoum government turned into a war of genocide and slavery. Estimates of the death toll run as high as 2 millions, one of the highest civilian death tolls since the Second World War. That's more people than were killed in Rwanda, Liberia, the Ivory Coast, Kosovo, and Bosnia combined. Sudan became a haven for Al Qaeda jihadists.
Nigeria:
In 1999, Muslims dominated governments in 12 of Nigeria's 36 states and began implementing Sharia, Islamic law, although this violated the federal constitution of Nigeria. Under Nigerian Sharia, forbidden practices include building churches, playing music, women wearing pants, and riding in taxis with members of the opposite sex. Islamic punishments such as flogging and chopping off hands are enforced by Muslim vigilantes. In one state, all Christian churches were destroyed by government order. Hundreds of churches have been burned in other states. Tens of thousands have been killed in violence related to the imposition of Sharia.
Indonesia:
In addition to the well known terrorist attacks in 2002 and 2005 at a nightclub in Bali and an Australian embassy in Jakarta, Islamists have been conducting a terror campaign against Indonesia's Christian minority and are seeking to impose Sharia law. Since 1999, over 19,000 have been killed in clashes between Muslims and Christians and over 600,000 have been made homeless. There have been the trademark beheadings, bombings and church burnings.
South Asia: Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, and Thailand:
Pakistan and Bangladesh have emerged as the major center of Islamic terrorism in Asia. Jihadists trained in terrorist camps in both countries commit atrocities inside Pakistan and Bangladesh as well as neighboring India and Thailand. One day in August 2005 there were 500 synchronized terror bombings across Bangladesh. Buddhists, Hindus, and Christians have been blinded, had fingers and hands amputated while others had iron rods nailed through their legs or abdomen. Women and children have been gang raped in front of their fathers and husbands. Hundreds of temples were destroyed and thousands of homes and businesses were looted and destroyed.
Pakistani schoolbooks states that Hindus are "backward, superstitious wife burners, and they are inherently cruel and if given the chance would assert their power over the weak, especially Muslims, by depriving them of education and pouring molten lead into their ears."
Media:
Thomas Friedman contends: "For any Beirut-based correspondent, the name of the game was keeping on good terms with the PLO."
The intimidation of journalists continues today. CNN's submissive coverage of Saddam Hussein in Iraq was revealed by senior CNN news executive Jordan Eason in a post-Iraq war op-ed column titled "The News We Kept to Ourselves." Reporting honestly about Saddam's atrocious, murderous rule, he argues, "would have jeopardized the lives of Iraqis, particularly those on our Baghdad staff." How much other press coverage of the Middle East have we taken at face value and influenced our thinking?
During the Lebanese war, the Israelis entered Beirut and the world media reported it as an invasion of Lebanon. No one mentioned how Israel and the Christians were working together to rid themselves of the Islamo-fascist terrorists who had set up shop in Lebanon and turned it from the Paris of the Middle East into a terrorism center spinning out hijackers and terrorists throughout the world.
The Christian Lebanese were vilified in the media for defending themselves and their country against the Islamists just as Israel was vilified by the world when it destroyed Saddam's nuclear reactor and just as America is vilified today for protecting itself and trying to fight an enemy bent on killing civilians.

Boston, New York City, DC, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton, Orlando, and Tampa, Philadelphia, Cleveland, Charlotte, Detroit, Houston, Kansas City, Denver, Chicago, Oklahoma City, Arlington, Dallas, Tucson, Seattle, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Los Angeles, San Diego, Laurel and Potomac (Maryland), Herndon and Springfield (Virginia).
Hamas established a Charter in 1988 which is public information and they consider the Rotary Club and Lions Club to be enemy organizations.
CAIR masquerades as a civil rights organization with the agenda to Islamize America. The co-founder and chairman, Omar Ahmad, is a Palestinian American and told a Muslim audience in California in 1998: "Islam isn't in America to be equal to any other faith, but to become dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on Earth."
A Saudi foundation run by the crown prince of Dubai owns the deed to CAIR headquarters, located practically in the White House's backyard. This terror-supporting foundation has raised millions using a TV telethon to support families of Palestinian suicide bombers and to glorify suicide bombers. During one such televised event, Islamic clergymen called for the destruction of Israel and America.
CAIR has been on the wrong side of terrorist attacks including:
- In 10/98, the group demanded the removal of a Los Angeles billboard describing Osama bin Laden as "the sworn enemy" claiming this depiction was "offensive to Muslims"
- CAIR deemed the conviction of the perpetrators of the 1993 WTC bombing as "a travesty of justice"
- CAIR called the conviction of Omar Abdul Rahman, the blind sheikh who planned to blow up NYC landmarks, a "hate crime"
- When President Bush closed the Holy Land Foundation for collecting money he said was used to support the Hamas terror organization, CAIR decried his action as "unjust and disturbing"
Since 9/11/01, at least 3 CAIR officials have been found guilty on charges resulting from major counterterrorism investigations.
Universities:
Money from the radical Wahhabi Saudis and other Arab countries is pouring into US universities. King Fahd donated $20M to set up a Middle Eastern studies program at the University of Arkansas. $5M was donated to USC Berkeley's program by two Saudi sheikhs linked to AQ. Harvard received $22.5 million and $28.1 million went to Georgetown. Other Saudi funding includes: $11M was donated to Cornell University, $5M to MIT, $1M to Princeton, $5M to Rutgers and untold millions to USC Santa Barbara, Johns Hopkins University, Rice University, American University, the University of Chicago, UCLA, Duke University, Syracuse University, Howard University and countless others.
These endowments gave the Saudis ultimate power to influence the curriculum taught to vulnerable American students. This curriculum is anti-Western, anti-Christian, and anti-Semitic.
The web site Campuswatch.org reviews and critiques Middle Eastern studies programs on North American campuses and observes examples of abuses of power over students. Middle East scholars impose their views on students and expect students to embrace their own politics, punishing those who do not with lower grades or weaker recommendations.
When the author of this books speaks at college campuses, she must have security and has had threats made against her life during the speeches. When Daniel Pipes speaks at campuses, metal detectors are employed for those listening to the speeches.
Some schools have received funding by Saudi benefactors who are currently being sued by the families of the victims of 9/11 as having financed the 9/11 attacks.
The Nazi card is being played frequently. In 2/05, Malik Shabazz, a Black Muslim who is Louis Farrakhan's right hand man, was invited to speak at Carnegie Mellon. He asked students to raise their hands if they were a Jew. His entourage, dressed in brown shirts and jackboots to simulate Nazis, pointed to those students whose hands were raised and shouted: "We're watching you! We're watching you." Michael Murphy, dean of student affairs, sat in his seat and did nothing.
Israel:
Israel has the highest ratio of university degrees per capita in the world. Most of the Arab world wallows in ignorance . 1/3rd of Arab men and 1/2 of Arab women are illiterate. Israel has the highest average living standard in the Middle East. It's 100B economy is larger than all of its immediate neighbors combined despite the facts that it doesn't have any crude oil to sell.
Israel has more than 3,000 high tech companies and start-ups which is the highest concentration of high tech companies in the world apart from the Silicon Valley. Four young Israelis developed the technology for AOL Instant Messenger.
Israel spent tens of millions of dollars airlifting more than 40,000 black Ethiopian Jews to Israel in 1984 and 1991. Since 2001, Israel has reached out to help others by taking in non-Jewish refugees from Lebanon, the Ivory Coast, Sierra Leone, Vietnam, Liberia, and Congo, and even Bosnian Muslims.
How many refugees have the 22 states in the Arab League taken in? The Arab world won't even give Palestinian refugees citizenship in their host countries. Jews can's live in Jordan or Saudi Arabia but over 1 million Arabs are living as citizens in Israel.
It's an article of faith among Arabs that the Jews stole land from the Palestinians. The truth, however, is carved in stone. Well known hieroglyphic inscriptions show the Israelis were established in Canaan no later than 1212 BC.There is a vast body of archaeological evidence that demonstrates the ancient Israelite/Jewish present in Israel/Judea as far aback as 925 BC. This historical presence is verified in the ancient records of the Egyptian, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Muslim empires. The Arab conquest did not occur until AD 638. So an exercise in elementary arithmetic reveals that the Jewish people were there 18.5 centuries before the arrival of the Arabs.
Despite being conquered many times, the Jewish people had a constant, uninterrupted presence in the land of Israel for over 30 centuries. The Arabs and Islam have been there for less than 14 centuries.
In the 30 centuries preceding the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, there have been only 2 periods when there was an independent, internationally recognized state in the area that now comprises Israel. Both of them were Jewish states. Even when this land was part of the Arab empire (AD 638 through AD 1099), there was never an independent Arab state in "Palestine", by that name or any other. No wonder the Arabs are donating millions of dollars to US colleges for Middle Eastern schools of study. They have a lot of hard historical evidence to re-write in the minds of young students.
Jews have created a vast body of art and literature, both secular and religious, which reflects the connection of the Jewish people to the land of Israel. The Dead Sea Scrolls, written when the descendants of the Maccabees ruled an independent Judea, demonstrate that the Jewish people, both in the Holy Land and in exile all over the world, have been reading and writing literature in the same distinct language for over 2,000 years.
Prior to the mid 1880's there was no trace whatever of uniquely "Palestinian" art, literature, music or any other manifestation of a distinct culture. If you find this hard to believe, try to think of one "Palestinian" book, author, or artist from the year 1300 through the year 1800. That's a period of 500 years. There must be 1 book written by a Palestinian Arab author. Or one painting. There are none, however. If you still don't believe it, ask a Palestinian nationalist or a Columbia University professor of Middle Eastern history to name one. The only answer you'll get is silence.
Even given all that, Israel does not deny Palestinian national rights On the contrary, the State of Israel and the Zionist movement that preceded it have accepted in good faith or initiated every proposal for a genuine two state solution that has ever been put forward. In contrast, the Arab world, Palestinian nationalists and radical Islamists have consistently denied Israel's right to exist, and they have responded to every settlement proposal with extreme violence. The missed opportunities for peace include the 1937 Peel Commission Proposal, the 1947 United Nations Partition Plan, the UN Security Council Resolution 242 in 1967, and the proposals made by Israel at Camp David in 2000.
And consider this: Although the Israelis claimed the land first, they were for a while displaced by war from Arab countries. To the victor go the spoils. By contrast, the Israelis won the 1967 six-day war waged by 4 Arab states. So why doesn't the same truism hold true?
What we must do:
Close the borders
Reform the immigration and naturalization process in America
Increase human intelligence
Profile, profile, profile
Develop alternative energy sources
Silence any teaching of hate and intolerance against our country
How citizens can make a difference:
Contact your elected officials: Make an appointment with your legislator and go with a group of friends. (Groups wield more power). Bring documented information (like this post) to your officials and let them know you want to get involved in order to make a difference . Do not leave their office until they agree to look into the matter and get back to you with concrete suggestions on how they plan to initiate changes for the better.
In dealing with Islamic countries, insist on reciprocation or no deal. If they want to build a mosque or Islamic school in our country, we should be able to build a church and a Christian school in theirs.
Sign petitions to change laws. Pass laws that publicly disclose which countries sponsor terror and how much they have invested in American companies and which companies.
Support the Patriot Act and legislators who enact strict legislation that will protect us at this time of war.
Ensure wide presidential powers to protect us during a time of war.
Restrict visas granted to Islamic foreign nationals each year.
Provide for US energy security and reduce the importance of oil.
Support legislators who will create legislation that will lead to developing sources of energy other than oil.
Support legislators who will promote Western ideals and values and dismiss excessive political correctness.
Secure the borders.
Fight legislation that empowers all tax exempt religious organizations with increased abilities for political influence.
Support legislators who enact laws to discourage excessive foreign funding for religious groups within the US.
Pursue all means available to uncover the plots of terror cell members and supporters living among us.
Monitor Your Local College and University: Call the registrar's office and ask if they have a Middle Eastern studies program or a course in Islamic religion. Try to talk with some students taking the course understand the nature and content of the professors' lectures. Monitor courses to see if they have an anti-American or anti-Semitic focus. Make sure you document everything said in class. Present your findings to the school administration, the media, the FBI, the local police, and the ACLU.
Report Suspicious Activity or Behavior.
Join an Activist Organization against Terror.
Join an organization whose mission is to expose and combat the threat of Islamic terrorism. American Congress for Truth (ACT) is one such organization which works to bring change through an organized grassroots movement to oppose the terrorist threat to America.
There is an informative web site which deals with timely issues and legislation relating to our security. The organization inspires activists to get involved and take action. Sign up at www.americancongressfortruth.org.
Lobby for Patriotic Education in America's Schools: Lobby for young people to be taught more in school about our founding documents, civics, American history and its heroes and participants, and America's place in the world. Hold school systems accountable for providing nonpartisan education. Monitor this by asking your children and grandchildren about what political positions their teachers take and whether they indoctrinate against our country. If so, organize the parents to protest in writing.
Stay informed and Speak Out: Attend seminars in your local community. Many organizations, especially Jewish temples and community centers host speakers on current affairs regularly. Write letters to your local newspaper expressing your opinion and letting journalists know that people are monitoring what they write. Speak up in your church, social group and among friends to inform others.
Promote Western Values in Your Home.
Plan family trips to Washington, D.C. and other historical sites to teach them to know and respect our culture and heritage. The White House Historical Society has games, toys, puzzles, and books which teach history in a fun way.
Divest your own portfolio of investments in companies that do business with terrorist-sponsoring states. Go to the DivestTerror.org web site to learn more.
Learn which Muslim organizations have ties to terror (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Hezbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.) and work to allow them no support within the US or around the globe.
Defend and support all movements toward personal freedoms in the Middle East.
Reduce your own gas consumption.
